12, bad day for me not in the market because I was playing a little short game but my oldest dog who was severly abused like a Michael Vick story who I got in 1989 I had to put down yesterday because of a brain tumor. :( He was over 18 years old and it broke my heart. He was about 90% Beagle but very sinew like muscles and very agile - he used to jump over the chows - literally - which pissed them off too no end but you couldn't find a more gentle dog on the planet. The people that had him for about 9 months heaped on abuse you can't believe to try and make him mean and it took me 10 years for him not to be jumpy no matter how gentle and loving I was with him.

That's the bad things about dogs - even when they live beyond their expected years it still is as devastating when you lose a dog that literally worshipped you. He was an indoor dog and when I was on the computer upstairs he would wait patiently ( he couldn't climb stairs anymore - too dangerous) at the bottom of the stairs for me to come down and wouldn't relax or go to sleep until he knew I was close by - devotion in spades. Ol' Big Jack will be deeply missed. I sure you know of what I speak. :(

The saddest thing is if you live long enough everything you care about around you will eventually be gone - one of saddest cruelties of life that's why you have to do the right thing while you are on this planet for such a very short time.

Sorry cayman. We have a coliie/sheltie mix. He was a rescue and we figured he was around 2 2-1/2 when we got him. We have had him for 14 years. He is starting to loose his eyesite and hearing and now his hips are giving out. I know I will miss him but my wife and daughters will take it pretty hard. We have to leave a light on for him at night now because if we don't he paces. We have hard wood floors so all you hear are the clicking of his nails and then every once in awhile you hear a thunk because his hips gave out and he can not get up. We figured that if we leave the light on he thinks someone is coming home and lays on his pillow by the door waiting.:) Just my story.

sorry about your loss, i have a yellow lab about 9 yrs old and they really get close to u . his hips and eyes are starting to bother him. we used to walk together, but he can't take it now. my dog paces even when the light is on, i don't know why ??? anyway may ol big jack RIP !!!
i feel you !!!

Had a lab and chow mix. Had all of the lab qualities. She wasn't abused but I figured some college kids had put her out. I tried my best to run her off for several weeks but she hung around and tried her best to get near to me. Not that I didnt like dogs or animals have always had dogs growing up. Well to make a long story short got home one Friday night working the second shift, I petted her and that was all it took I opened the door to go in and she darted inside. My wife was grinning and that's when I figured it out. My wife had been feeding her so she was bound and determined to win me over and win me over she did, best dog I ever had cried like a baby when she died.:(

Thanks for all the response guys - it really means alot. A very close friend donated 100k today to a private kennel in California that doesn't put dogs down and hires a trainer to work with the abused ones of which there seems to be an unfortunate endless amount. Every little bit helps so I had to make my matching contribution as well and the forementioned gentleman donated the funds in Jack's name so even though his memory will always live on for me it's nice to know that it is now officially in perpetuity.

It means alot and something that for me that will never be forgotten. There are alot of good people out there that provide funds they really can't afford but do it anyway because to them the importance outways the inconvience.

Great thing CB, that there is someone that is there to protect the innocents and our best friends.:)

Cayman, you are a true hero. People like you who step to the plate and help these poor animals are superstars. Jack is looking down and giving you two paws up. Every little bit helps. From people like you, Sam Simon, Beth O , and everyone(heroes). Animals need love and care. Too many mean people out there who try to harm them. They are trying to end greyhound racing in Mass. I pray it does. http://www.grey2kusa.org/

Time to jump in both boot feet. Everyone is so negative and bearish. Also oil prices are very frothy. SPECKs and OPEC are like the MAFIA, You can only shake people down so much before it backfires. OPEC and Specks will pay the price. People will stop spending and look for alt. ways to travel. . If you notice, they are more people carpooling, taking the train, and driving smaller cars. This is good for the earth. Just like NASDAQ in 2000 or Real Estate Bubble, everything comes tumbling down. Oil prices remind me for the dot.com craze. It just a matter of time.TULIP THEORY Also, there is plenty of oil, they are lying. Remember OPEC is a cartel. They all get together in a room and scheme. They blame China,India, fires in Nigeria and other bullshit. The media is another bullshit spinning machine creating hype and the public is buying it. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal in the late 90s, how the Saudis were floating oil in tankers to avoid being counted in inventory. There is a surplus in oil.

I sort of agree with you. But, it is still dangerous.

Gigantic market crashes all at once are rare...so it does not pay to try to predict one. That being said, I do believe we are still going down down down. I am continually amazed how the market can go up on some days. I guess it can be said the market is "naturally buoyant", meaning that in the absence of significant downward pressure, it just wants to go up.

So...I have my 50% in stocks right now but I'll be ready to sell. I know that the light volume days leading up to the 4th of July seem to be up as far as I can remember. So, I might play it that way.

There is a chance that "this time it is different", and that we can throw history out the window, and credit disaster for the U.S. will occur. I believe it is inevitable if OIL PRICES STAY SO HIGH. Watch what happens when people can't put gas on their credit cards anymore!

12% I believe the price per barrel has little to do with the oil companies or the supply/demand BS. I read an article awhile back that OPEC increased oil production. There was an article in the local paper the other day talking about companies and organizations investing their retirement funds into oil to help hedge inflation. The price of oil is now in the hands of day traders and speculators looking to make the big kill. The weak dollar has a lot to do with it but it is the commodities trading that is running the show. Someone has to step in to stop this runaway train. The oil companies are just sitting back making money so they won't, forget OPEC, financials are to weak and the big money holders have too much to loose by getting involved. We can only hope our government wakes up and starts banging some heads. Anyway that is my spin.

May the force be with you:cool:

locking C Funds 2 days gains today..going to I FUND. Europe and Asia way oversold and a real bargain at these levels. Looking for a awesome gain with the I FUND for the month. I bet we get a 3%-5% pop in the I Fund this month.

I would like to go to Ifund too... but with ECB raising rates tomorrow, I'd like to hear more thoughts from people on the effect on stocks. Thanks in advance.
