We (the wife and me) run a sheltie rescue (well, more of a haven as we can't seem to let any of them go). Check out our brood at http://www.everythingsheltie.org/sheltie.htm

That is great. I bet your dad is very proud of you looking down and seeing all the great deeds you are doing for the chows. Keep up the great work!!!!!! God Bless:)

To Caymanbrac and Dr. Faustus:

Keep up the outstanding work you are doing for the shelties and the chows! If I could, I would adopt one of the shelties. Though I am an animal lover, I have an asthmatic son who is terrified of dogs because his father has told him he is allergic and that they make him sick. I had a cat I loved that was court-ordered out of my house during my divorce proceedings - can't go through anything like that again, too financially expensive and emotionally draining!

Even so, I have remained involved in supporting wildlife through dontations to the zoo and a local wildlife sanctuary that has been featured on Animal Planet - where there is a will there is a way! And I drag my allergic son along to the functions , because even if he can't have a dog or cat, he can appreciate and admire animals and feel for them from afar. Hopefully it will make him a better person. There, you've brought out quiet Mamikin. But you are to be admired for your work and charity!

Well, none of our shelties are available for adoption. Its not that we can't let go ... they're part of our family now and you can take them when you pry their leashes from my cold, dead fingers. :D

I know what you mean. I have 2 Westies and 1 Cairn. The Westies sleep with us. They hog up all the blankets. The Cairn will not go to bed until I go to bed. She sleeps in a dog bed near me. When I put her in the dog bed, she looks up and waits for me to cover her with a warm blanket. My wife and I never go away because we do not want to put them in a kettle. I kiss and hug my dogs more than my daughters and wife..:)

OK 12%...I know you meant kennel....;)

Throughout her life my Shadow slept at the foot of the bed and kept my feet warm. She went to Rainbow Bridge years ago, but I swear sometimes she's right there with me - wakes me up at night her presence is so strong. Anyone who does not believe that our beloved pets have souls and are waiting for us on the other side has no soul. Heaven won't be Heaven if they're not.
lol

I have a few of my best friends waiting for me to throw the ball on the other side of Rainbow Bridge. Only another pet lover will understand that bond we have with them....

I know exactly what you mean.

Someone ... and I can't remember who ... said something to the effect that if dogs did not go to Heaven, he wanted to go where they went. I completely and totally agree.

Dennis FAA, So glad someone has the courage to speak up that they have kids besides dogs, not that I have anything against dogs, someday I may acquire a golden retriever. I lost one of my current kids last year in an extremely traumatic way, still got the other. Raised them from pre-weaned when their feral mom abandoned them during a wildfire 11 years ago. Survivor named Smokey, what else? ;) Might show my kid's picture someday if I ever figure out how to upload things and not just type away here.

HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE NO CUT AND NO BAILOUTS...fiscal responsibility is it.....stay out of the way fed and let the market take care of its selfsome.... pain along the way......let the market do its thing..............NO RATE CUTS.....NO BAILOUTS!

Mr. R - This is the first time I'm beginning to see you as an adult (and not some kid with little understanding). Ben impressed me immensely by standing up to Congress (and everyone else) when he took control BY TELLING EVERYONE - DO NOT EXPECT A BUNCH OF RATE CUTS - THAT HE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO ERODE THE OVERALL ECONOMY AND MADE IT CLEAR THAT "RATE CUTS" WOULD MAINLY SERVE TO MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE. He also said "a Recession" is on the way! Deep down I would say that Ben feels the way you and I do. Let the Markets take a major hit - let it fall and keep falling until it is at the bottom and then once we are there a little while we can build with solid strength. That is by far the best solution - but very few want to accept this or all the more believe it. In general we have been riding a climbing market for years (with many of us getting 20 to 30% gains) and so we refuse to let go and keep waiting for our opportunity. Ben initially stood his ground and made his true assessment clear - NOW WE ARE FINDING HE IS UNDER A LOT OF PRESSURE FROM POWERFUL SOURCES AND IS MORE OF A PUPPET - so future rate cuts will occur - and the general population will see this as a good and wonderful thing. Only a few realize it spells disaster and is evidence that our economy is in ruins. China has already made it clear "that future US rate cuts" will only serve to complicate the global economy and if they get upset - or decide to make things painful THEN WE WILL EXPERIENCE A PAIN WAY BEYOND THE GREAT DEPRESSION.

I hear ya'll...we need to be "big boys" and take our lumps now for the good of the overall economy. Doubt it will happen, not in the near term.

The big question is...WHEN is it going to come to pass? you want to get out at the first signs of a faltering rally (assuming we rally after rate cut).
