WorkFE's Account Talk

It was actually a fairly easy choice. I had a stop point determined by the past 5 years gains. 10% loss was 20% of those gains. I'll actually, after today be over 10% but close enough.
The S&P and DOW hitting some of the lows that are being predicted will definately make me feel better in the end but if we Rally back from here I'll be crying.:worried:

Wife and I safe and sound back home. Hope everybody had an enjoyable 4th of July weekend.

Possible small bounce early this week. Chance to improve some losses but not sure it'll last through the week.
Brighter days are ahead though. :)

Don't know if we have put in the absolute bottom of this correction or if there is room for some continued downward movement. I believe we are close which makes my move last week ridiculous. What was I thinking. Anyway some believe we are bottoming:

Futures are down but not alarming. Europe and Asia down and I expect the US to follow suit today but I believe it will be much like yesterday. Minimal gain/loss as we build a base for the bottom. At some point this could trigger a buying move but probably not this week but if you're late getting in you could miss a significant portion of an upswing.

Have a great remainder of the week everybody.

I think Kass is correct - I just made a small profit in my BP position - how miraculous is that.

If properly allocated, ones investments should never all be losing at the same time. I know BT is well deversified.

I guess I should have posted this a day or two earlier for some reaction time. I'll work on my timing.

Thats what we're all doing, right? Working on our timing? Let me know if you figure it out.

Decided to put a bit back in. I'll either make some or lose some. What the heck I can always start playing the lottery.

Spent my early Sunday morning fishing a few hours on the Ohio. Nothing like being on the river passing barges at 7AM.

Went and looked at 200 acres for sale along the river. 2000 feet of Sandy beaches. Lots of timber.

Went to work today and attended a town hall meeting. 1st part was conversion back to GS. To easy.
2nd part, 20-30% reduction in workforce. 2 year plan. Not so easy.

Will have to put the land grab plans on hold for a while. Could have been worse. Could have found out after I made the big purchase. I may still make an offer but I'll have to farm it to stay afloat.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

It was nice to see some significant green today. If tomorrow appears headed in the same direction I may rebalance my allocations to start line.

Green this morning.
Europe mixed, Asia down.

As an investor with time on my side this would not bother me:

As one of the masses who believe the employment/economic conditions need continued improvement as we try to get our feet under us this would be bad.

GL today everybody

Expected, Europe is ensuring a double dip by their actions.

Real estate can't support anything.

Employment estimates still cause concern and the census people start to roll back into unemployment.

Commodities will be the most leading predictor of the markets this week!

Agreed, however IMO you have to be nearsighted in this enviroment as commodities are in an accordian affect right now. There will be times when it looks like things are picking up but I believe that is due to low supply from scaled back production. Ramping up production to meet a shortage then dropping back to conserve capital by reducing over supply. IMO this could go on for a couple of years.

Example:

I believe we will see more of this as companies try to keep supply at a minimum. You would think this will affect Commodities as well.
