WorkFE's Account Talk

Today could have easily been a sell the news day but in the end just pennies. I'll take that going into the weekend.
For me Monday is contribution day, I expect the market to end on a high note to charge me more. hehehe.

The nice thing about all of this turmoil is it gives credit to the conversations I have at home with my own family about our personal debt ceiling. Not that we are at it but the importance of maintaining balance.
In the end all common people suffer from indecision no matter which side of the fence you sit. Life is a challange, that's what makes it fun.
Futures up this morning.

'Twould be interesting to see if there are any trends in the top 50 regarding which funds they are in proportionately and how many IFTs they make within a day or two of one another. I doubt that data is very "gettable" so the Sentiment Survey is probably as close as we have.

The last few weeks have been mind numbing. I was really concerned with the level of rhetoric on the hill so I had to pull back and take stock of my own life. On Sunday I lost a good horse. Been with me 3/4 of my life. Has had breathing problems the past few years, I guess the weather this year did not help. So I spent this week, when not at work, chained to my chores at home. From the garden to the yard to preparing a room for my 24 YO to move back home. Standing on the bank of the Ohio with a pole. Cleaning my instruments used to stuff the freezer. I think my wife thought I was losing it a bit but she knows me best and realized I was charging my batteries. I feel better, refreshed. The world is not going to explode on Tuesday next week. (Fairly certain anyway)
I do not like the way our politicians are conducting themselves but in the end, I have to believe, they will work it out. Increase or default does not really matter as long as the deficit at some point goes the other direction.
I hope you all have a great day. A green day would be nice if for no other reason than to lift peoples spirits a bit. And if it's not, go home and cut your lawn, you'll feel better.

Sorry to hear about your loss of a good friend - it's never easy whether they have four legs or two. Now about the 24 YO coming back home - is that because of a lack of job opportunities. It's really none of my business so you can ignore the question.

Early last year after getting out of the Marines he moved to MO with friends. (Reason: Girl, go figure.:cheesy:)
Loss of one roomate to marriage, another one lost his Job and my sons hours cut back. (Excuse )
Real reason: Him and Girl broke up. No reason to be in MO anymore:nuts:
So we will help him get settled down here. Give him some time to job hunt and get on gettin on.

I'm sure he'll do fine with family behind him - he just needs time. Perhaps a new girl is waiting around the corner. Reminds me of some words from a song - "my lord it's a girl in a flatbed Ford slowing down to get a look at me." I've always believed that when one door closes another one opens.

I pray that it's only one. He is a good kid but still needs smacked every now and again. His mother will put on her best game face and act like she has not gotten used to the quietness in the house.
Me, as long as I can get the 50" TV working at the other end of the house, I won't even know he's there.

In June 2010 we had a 17% correction - so far we are only down 11%. It certainly seems worse because it's been so fast. The S&P is off 50.77 - I remember in 2008 when it was off over 70 points. This is not the same situation - gotta sit tight.

Bump.

Is the sell off fear like 2008? Does not feel the same to me.
I believe the S&P sent Washington a message. "You are the world economic leader, act like it"
I believe investors, mainly smart money, are sending a message as well. This is not rocket science. If you can't handle the job we will create an atmosphere that will encourage voters to fix it.
Please no finger pointing here. Personally I believe they all have their head up their fifth point of contact.

They need someone to stepup and preform a headectomy on both sides of the aisle, problem is none of them can see to do it.

I believe they will form their super committee and pressure will be brought by outside forces to push them in a direction of equilibrium. May not be good for all but hopefully for the good of the Nation.
If not, well I've always got my fishing poles.;)

Don't have a fishing place near me, but I have an esement behind me I can plant a garden in. Maybe I should procure seeds before the rush?:D

All the government has to do is remove the financial incentive to go on welfare - start with no more illegitimates being fed by the government. Stop the minority at risk reduced lunch program - fat mama can make her kids sandwiches before school. Cut back on the food stamp fraud that is rampant.

The policy is the policy. Good, bad or indifferent does not really matter to me. It is the unprofessional route they took to get there. Makes you wonder how our morons, oops I meant delegates, act during nuclear arms negotiations. Kinda scary.
We had an opportunity to step up to the plate and show the rest of the world how it's done and as we are represented by these idiots, to the rest of the world Americans failed.
Opportunity wasted.

+1 I could not agree more, and congress clearly failed the test.

JTH, You know I value your opinion but THEY ALL FAILED US.
Nobody in the current political arena deserves my vote until they vote for America First.

I was not expect the turn until after 3. I guess they wanted to get started early to give them a chance to go <1100 by 4
