Okay so if I jump in today for Thursday and Friday, then bail Friday before noon. Will my IFT go into effect for next Tuesday? I think since Monday is a holiday the markets are closes?
It goes into effect Friday.
Yea but if I do it before noon today I would have tomorrow and Friday, but if jump out by noon Friday would that change into effect next mon or tue?
When Do Interfund Transfers Take Effect?
Online and Telephone
IFTs made on this website or the ThriftLine before 12 noon Eastern time are generally processed as of that business day. Requests made after 12 noon Eastern time are generally processed the next business day.
Okay
So if I do an IFT today it goes into effect the cob of today, that means i can take advantage of today's gains? I though doing it before noons means your ready to have your changes go into effect for tomorrow's business? Thus if I did it after 12 noon it would not take effect until Friday?
I'm all confused now![]()

There is no way to game the system to take advantage of today's gains. Your IFT before noon (on a trading day) will reallocate your balance at COB today -putting you at risk for a loss or gain on the next trading day (Thursday).
One thing I noticed is that the G fund is the only fund that has earnings on non-trading days (weekends & holidays). At today's rates it goes up about 0.01% per day. Because of the 3 day weekend Tuesday's gain will probably be an outsized 0.03%.
