What do you collect?

Well, now that it seems we all have way to much stuff, maybe you should put some of it for sale in our new Classifieds section so the rest of us can add to our collections. I never know what I need until I see it. :D

If anyone is looking for something in particular, let me (us) know. I may have it and post for you to look at.

lately i have been collecting tsptalk coffee mugs. i got one of the shiny stainless and black ones because of a stellar but non-winning performance beause i whined a lot. then i got one of the old school blue ones when rmi and alevin got the shiny ones. then i got a microwavable because PO was getting one. now dreamboatannie is in on the game too. i can't wait to collect the next issue.

i also collect baseball caps, from all over, at least two apple boxes of nested caps but i hardly ever wear them, only on really bad weather days or playing poker with sunglasses. i have them from boats up north i worked on or traded with. and from sawmills all over but especially the south, they wear hats a lot down there. also from any sports team any league from minors to majors where i've seen a game in person.

and stickers. i looove stickers, but i don't file them away, i stick them. i have a job box and multiple hardhats all scratched and weathered and dented full of them. some of my favorites are: when i used to be a pipefitter and welder 'danger, argon, be back later', and one with a hand showing all the fingers separated (to cut the heads off of fish on that machine you had to wear handcuffs too short and hold the tail and belly while stomping the gilloutine trigger with your foot), and one from 'scotch lumber' near thomasville alabama also close to the tombigbee river we would put on our cleanest carharts and go to the sunday buffet at shoney's after drinking miller beer and tequila all saturday night now that was an interesting place. ahhh good times.

does anybody have some cool stickers to trade?

i like all kind of stickers, but if you can buy them standard on a roll from office max, then no those are not my favorite. almost all businesses have stickers, i hope tom gets some soon. and also almost all businesses have cool hats, i hope tom gets some of those soon too.

think local and get creative, talk up the counter help, stickers and hats are everywhere, you just gotta ask nice most places is all. and smile, that helps too.

What have I collected? Nothing on purpose. We will not speak of the baseball cards from the early 60s.

I have a bunch of electronic junk I need to get rid of. Most of it was very important at one time but no longer so. I have a hard time throwing things like this away. Maybe because they represent so much past BS&Ts.

I just know someone out there would love some of this stuff.
If nothing else this will be a trip down memory lane for some of you. Other, younger people will be saying "WTF?".

Most of this stuff has the original packaging, manuals and receipts. According to reality TV that makes them "real valuable"

Hitachi 2060 multi system TV. Hitachi 8050AM multi system VHS recorder/player. Complete with original packaging, wire remote control, manuals and receipt from Lakenheath AB audio club.

AcerPower tower PC with Pentuim I processor upgraded so it can add.

Sansui 990DB receiver. Aiwa dual cassette recorder/player. (don't make me drag it out to find the model) Technics SL-1910 turntable. Dolby DBX222 noise reduction unit. Cerwin-Vega D1E speakers. All with original packaging and receipt from Rhein-Main AB audio club (called Elictric Avenue).

Sorry, I gave away the JBL L36s and Bose 501s and 901s years ago.

Prices are negotiable. TSPTalk members get a discount. Shipping is on you.

I collect shoes-- all kinds..high heels, strappy ones, platform patent leather ones, boots...you know...the latest styles.....the blingier the better, plus purses galore..summer ones, leather ones in all colors including straw with different colors/ dye..gotta have plenty to match every outfit and rich brown brushed suede ones, also lots of blouses, dresses, fancy lacy under clothes...etc...and hats..floppy hippy hats, cowgirl, summer tea party hats with dried flowers for Fiesta in San Antonio...all designs and types! Ok...I'm just kidding!! But I do have tons and love clothes!! Yes have to clear out every other year..so many clothes and so little time....my favorite is a soft silk pink business pant suit...never getting rid of that!...seriously.

So I collect old history books, stamps but only certain ones with celebs like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, and Dinosaurs; And State quarters...but ended that.

My main collection is Department 56 Christmas village (North Pole and Dickens Village) porcelain houses and figurines. I have so many I only collect extraordinary pieces now.....I set it up every couple years and make it look as life-like as possible....do that in November and take down in late January..takes two days to set up and takes up about 7x7'space ..has a train that goes into a mountain and back out and train is a choo choo type that has smoke coming out. There is also a skating rink with kids skating about and up in the a North Pole Santa is in his sleigh flying around...yes they move. There is a river (make it look real with blue Saran Wrap) and snow is fluffy and stretched by hand an inch at a time and laid down so it doesn't look like just a white sheet of flat fluff. Add in Spanish moss and little twigs to create ground. Lots of trees..in the woods...and English hunters on horseback with hound dogs hunting a fox, a farm with piggies, Xmas carolers, elves testing toys, santa's house up in the North Pole, Big Ben, Kensington palace, Ebenezer Scrooge's house with the ghosts, lots of other English houses, and the "curiosity" shop. If I set up this year, will take a few pictures and post.

Not sure I could sell it but who knows.

Cerwin Vegas! Shoot me a PM to let me know what you want for them shipping probably wouldn't be worth it. Lol
i just found a D3 (only one) and a set of book shelf Cerwin Vegas on the curb about a month ago. Lol. I was shocked and swooped in to rescue them!

say, you don't have a commodore 64 console with an operable cartridge of galaxian in a box in the garage, do you? i used to kick ass at that game.

Just got my season tickets for Weber State basketball and it came with a "Weber State Wildcat Club" sticker. It's yours if interested.

I have a couple of really cool old street signs, but probably only cool for local folks. They are wooden and hand painted, but one is mis-spelled, which makes it really unique. It's been sitting in my store for a while. I can't believe no one bought it, but I don't think most notice the mis-spelling. It's for "Ogden Ave" but it actually says "Odgen Ave".

Also have several other signs, but I don't think any bullet holes...

Great topic, Tom. Everyone has interesting answers. I could add a few things that I'm just remembering, like a stamp collection, football cards mostly from the 1970s, and state quarters sets purchased from the us mint. I also will mention that in my baseball card collecting days I bought many cards of stars at card shows, including Snider, Mize, and Berra from the 1952 Topps set.

My wife loves to collect Hallmark Christmas ornaments and other Christmas decorations. She has gathered a bunch of pieces for a Christmas village, but not as extensive as DreamboatAnnie's.

used to collect Star Wars stuff now coins

I used to collect the Star Wars cards and stickers. Then I got into collecting the old figures from Star Wars IV from 1977. Those are the most sought after today being mint in package. But kinda gave that up as with baseball cards, the market dropped out on them. Now I just invest in Gold, Silver and copper coins and bars. Always can sell a few if I need the money.

Re: used to collect Star Wars stuff now coins

Gold, silver, and copper... Now that's a collection. :)
