WAR

I exited all my short-term positions last night, with the State Of Union address now behind us, I figure this increases the odds of an IRAN-Escalation over the weekend. Remember, the Donald loves to sucker punch people, so perhaps we'll get some movement soon.

Israel begins attacking Iran. All flights diverted away from Tehran. As of 02:00 am war is underway in Iran by Israeli jet bombing.

Update: 2:38 am. Some reporting saying U.S. Jets are also striking Iran tonight. No confirmation yet of that.

Only two of about 25 commercial flights over Iran are still in the air- both moving away from Tehran. Only military flights happening now. All other civilian flights over Iran have either left or landed.

If the Iranian nuclear program was destroyed as the administration told us, why is the Iranian nuclear program being used as justification for this attack?

I just saw a report on the BBC this morning that said only one of the three sites were destroyed.
My question is how did we get from a report yesterday on Face the Nation that a deal was in the making only to have bombs dropping today.

Now seeing reports of significant missile strikes inside Israel, and at American bases in Bahrain. No confirmation yet. I’m seeing three KC-135 tankers arriving at Israeli Ben Gurion Tel Aviv airport. Also a Turkish NATO E3 patrolling the northern border of Iran.

Iran has officially closed the Straight of Hormuz to all vessel traffic.
(That blocks all oil exports from the Gulf.)

Dubai Airport, hotels hit.

Explosions rock Dubai, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait as war spreads across Middle East

War launched by US and Israel on Iran has quickly escalated prompting anxiety and concern in whole region

Iran struck the world-famous Fairmont hotel in Dubai, setting the hotel alight, as the war launched by the US and Israel on Iran quickly spread to the rest of the Middle East on Saturday.

Residents watched in shock as an Iranian missile hit the five-star hotel in Dubai’s luxurious Palm Jumeirah area. Social media videos showed fires breaking out near the entrance of the hotel, which led to four people being injured.

Later Dubai authorities said debris from an intercepted drone caused a fire at the city’s famous luxury hotel the Burj Al Arab and Dubai’s international airport. Abu Dhabi Airports said in a post on X that an incident at Zayed international airport in the UAE’s capital resulted in one fatality and seven injuries. It later deleted the post.

News report- the U.S. Consulate in Karachi had a violent mob attack. News reports saying attacks also on other U.S. facilities in several cities, saying nine dead. Karachi is the capital of southern Sindh province and Pakistan’s largest city.

Senior police official Irfan Baloch said protesters briefly attacked the perimeter of the U.S. Consulate but were later dispersed. He dismissed as baseless reports that any part of the consulate building was set on fire. However, he said protesters torched a nearby police post and smashed windows of the consulate before security forces arrived and regained control.

Witnesses said dozens of Shiite protesters remained gathered about a kilometer (half a mile) from the consulate, urging others to join them. They said one of the protesters had tried to burn a window of the consulate before security forces arrived there and dispersed the demonstrators. It prompted Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to issue an appeal for calm.

In a statement, he said, “Following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, every citizen of Pakistan shares in the grief of the people of Iran.” He described it as “a day of mourning for the Muslim Ummah and for the people of both Iran and Pakistan,” but urged people not to take the law into their own hands and to express their protests peacefully.

The objective is fairly simple, no boots on the ground, pound the ground level, take them as far back as the 1950s. Not that I condone any intervention, but this as close of an opportunity as we will ever get. If the second-order effects trickle down, we may reduce the supply of weapons to Russia, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen. If so, then perhaps we'll see a major stability shift in the region in our favor. Here's the rub, if this works, then perhaps Russia will fold faster, and if this happens before the mid-terms, the Dems are in trouble.

The good news, the markets have 2-3 days to digest this before we open, I happen the think we are well positioned for a +2% day on Monday. I did take a small entry on Friday's close, and will exit on a pop.

In an Iran Conflict Scenario, Most common short-term pattern:

  • Oil ↑
  • Defense stocks ↑
  • Gold ↑
  • Broader stock market ↓
  • Airlines & travel ↓

Khomeni (leader) is reported dead.

This is going to sound pedantic, but I don't mean it that way. I thought Khamenei had become a title as well - kinda like 'Caesar' after Octavian took the name as a title. I mean, I remembered the original thug had croaked out some time ago.

As it turns out, 'Khomeni' croaked out in 1989 and 'Khamenei' took over and has been gracing the earth till yesterday. It's a surname based on the cities of their birth. It just sounds the same to us unwashed kuffar.

The title is 'Ayatollah'

I just looked it up a few minutes before I read this:p

Hundreds of ships drop anchor in Middle East Gulf, data shows

Source: Reuters

March 1, 2026 6:46 AM EST Updated 25 mins ago

LONDON, March 1 (Reuters) - At least 150 tankers, including crude and LNG vessels, dropped anchor in open Gulf waters beyond the Strait of Hormuz and dozens more were stationary on the other side of the chokepoint, shipping data showed on Sunday, after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran plunged the region into turmoil.

The tankers were clustered in open waters off the coasts of major Gulf oil producers, including Iraq and Saudi Arabia, as well as liquefied natural gas giant Qatar, according to Reuters estimates based on ship-tracking data from the MarineTraffic platform.

Many of the vessels were stationary within exclusive economic zones (EEZ) of the key Gulf countries, including Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, according to MarineTraffic data. An EEZ extends up to 24 miles and beyond local territorial limits of 12 nautical miles. Dozens of cargo ships were separately clustered across various EEZs, the data showed.

Some 20% of global oil, including from producers Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Kuwait and Iran, passes through Hormuz, along with large volumes of LNG from Qatar. In addition, at least another 100 tankers were anchored outside of the strait, along the UAE and Omani coasts and anchorage points as well as dozens of cargo ships, according to the data.
