Frankly it was bold move if it pays off, push China out of South America, long term security, yea? If ever there was a time where both Europe and NATO were deemed weak, powerless and irrelevant, now would be that time so let Europe get off their collective (let's form a committee) azz and blockade Russia. They have the means, just not the will. As for Taiwan, it's not a hill worth dying on, pack the tech before China takes what already belongs to them. What a shi!t show these last 10+ years have been...

Turns out Venezuela’s CITGO sold to billionaire last month, just before we attacked.

Trump megadonor Paul Singer bought Citgo, the US subsidiary of Venezuela's state oil company, at a rock-bottom price last month. Now, the hedge fund "vulture" is expected to make a killing from Trump's regime change war.
One of President Donald Trump’s top billionaire donors, who has spent the past several months backing a push for regime change in Venezuela, is about to cash in after the president’s kidnapping of the nation’s president, Nicolas Maduro, this weekend.
While he declined to tell members of Congress, Trump has said he tipped offoil executives before the illegal attack. At a press conference following the attack, he said the US would have “our very large United States oil companies” go into Venezuela, which he said the US will “run” indefinitely, and “start making money” for the United States.

Everything is always about money, and there's usually sleaze involved, but why isn't it also about drugs, security, and freeing the Venezuelan people from a cruel socialist? I heard it was because Maduro mocked the Trump dance.
Anyway, this sounds like a good subject for Bluesky or X, where we can get our "anti-the other guys" endorphins 24/7.

There is a world of bad guy leaders that could be removed for the drugs, security and freeing people from a cruel leader. The fact that the other countries don't have oil and minerals are likely factors why our administration is not interested in those countries.commondreams.org? OK.
