Wall Street's 'fear index' has biggest one-day jump in a month, at three-week high
MARKET PULSE The Cboe Volatility index jumped in afternoon trading on Monday, climbing as losses in the U.S. stock market accelerated. The VIX (VIX) gained 10.7% to 14.43. Should Wall Street's so-called "fear index" settle at current levels, Monday would represent its biggest one-day percentage gain since June 27, and it would end at its highest level since July 5.
