the study found that the skill in predicting price changes in markets is more strongly connected with Theory of Mind, or the ability to predict other people, than mathematical skill.

Interesting article..sounds similar, if not the same, to what Donkey is already doing with his Ark System.

Doesn't the robot/computer auto trading algorithms throw a wrench in the works? The market action people influence being 'watered down' by the non-organics/AI?

I don't know anything about all that, I just trade on a whim. The above quote is from the article posted by userque. Maybe userque can answer your question?

Hi Q: Morning check of the Forum. Getting ready to head back tomorrow. Decided to give the highways one more day to thin out. We are having a super little vacation. Toughest part has been some of the weather. Nashville has been a bit rainy but I did get to try Angels Envy Single Barrel and Bulleit Bourbon. Now I'm totally conflicted. I thought the Makers 46 was going to be the one but I think I've decided there is a holy trifecta :D:D

Of course, great music and sights in Nashville. And lots of nice people.

Later,

FS

FS,

I didn't realize you were a bourbon guy. Angels Envy single is an awesome sipper. I'm a JB triple black fan for lower cost sipping. But there is way better if you can find it. I had the honor of opening (on St. Patricks Day) a bottle of my grand-fathers favorite. I can't find the distillery who made it (I'm sure they don't exist anymore) but it is the best bourbon I have ever had. Grommes & Ulrich 1942 "Pre-war"...G&U was a grocery chain in downtown Chicago in the late 1800's through WWII. It got bought up a couple of times but, somewhere along the line, someone slapped their label on bottles of bourbon. It is amazing...but I expect very rare....I will be looking at estate sales for a long time before I find more. I have one opened bottle which I will sip on for years to come and one unopened that I will sell when destitute in retirement!

Hi Mcglives. I enjoy a nice shot of bourbon about twice a week. The real occasions are when my old musician buddies come down to see me from Alaska, Washington State and Colorado once or twice a year and we tend to partake during the jam sessions. We always start out with just the bourbon but we're into beer chasers before the evening ends. My wife is a saint and allows me to have the guys down at least once a year for about 3-4 days. Always good to see old friends and enjoy good times. Your tastes sound like they border on "bourbon expert" whilst I probably fall in to middle group. I was impressed by the quality of the bourbons tried on this trip. The quality stuff is worth searching for. All the best.

Hey Stoplight!

I'll add you to my contacts later so you can PM me in the future if need be.

You're right, the link is to a Political Discussion. In this discussion, I was met with so many instances (by a couple of folks) where I was essentially, repeatedly grossly misquoted.

I actually, responded and demonstrated to the thread their lack of comprehension via detailed, line by line, point by point, granular rebuttal, but I don't want to make dumbing down simple statements a habit. So I added the signature so I don't have to repeat why I may not respond to a sufficiently odd ball question/comment.

:)

Que,

I hear ya !!! Thanks for the "open forum" post, just in case others were wondering, too...

All kinds of Folks, here on the Board !!! That's what makes me log in most every day !!! :D

How This Hedge Fund Robot Outsmarted Its Human Master - Bloomberg

It will be interesting to see if these computer-driven funds make market panics worse. On a related subject Consumer Reports has a good article this month on "robo-advisors". Many people are getting fed-up with poor returns and high fees of personal advisors and are turning to computer-run investing based on algorithms. The computers invest your money based on how much you have to invest, your age, goals, risk tolerance, etc., then put you into a mix of bond vs. stocks, small-caps vs. large caps, etc....similar to the TSPs life-cycle funds I suppose. The funds currently hold about $50 billion and that's expected to explode to $5 trillion in 10 years.

Interesting...I agree.

It's probably hard to say. I think it will depend upon the capability of the individual algos. In the article I posted, I think the human wanted to bail; but the algo didn't. It's all the 'bailing' that makes panics worse, imo. Like humans...some algos will panic sell, and make the situation worse; and some will try to hold.

I can see that (re: the Consumer Reports Article). I also suspect many will/have also turned to sites like Collective2.com

Lol, I tried dabbling with Nugt. My first experience was great, I made $200 plus. I got bolder yesterday and bought 70 shares @ $143.20, thinking I could get in and out at $144. OMG, the price dropped so fast - I was already out -$1400 by the time I decided to cut my losses this morning.

Yeah...been there done that. :) Very impressive that you cut that large loss right away.

I have had nugt and dust on my radar just watching and learning and noticed big swings on both. Is there a time limit to cash out? Seems like if you hold long enough you can make some good money. I know it's not that easy. Just a rookie asking questions. Dust is a lot cheaper but has as big a percentage gain per day as nugt. I would think dust would be the better play with less invested. Thanks folks
