VIX spiked $4 just before the close for a very short time (< 1 minute). High of 26.29 for the day, but all other points were comfortable below $24, and the last half hour below $23. Closed at $22.44.

Yes I was surprised that they did a 180. They must have reached a key level traders wanted to buy at. Or maybe good news somewhere in the world.
