tsptalk's Market Talk

Pain is moving 100% to the G-fund COB 3/11/15. Oh the humanity! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

We have all been down that capitulation road at one time or another! Sometimes you just need to put on your sticky pants and hold on to the bar of the roller coaster car!
One thing I try to do these days is make moves in multiple IFTs. That is hard to do with only 2 (or so) per month, but it did leave me with only a 20% move out of I to G on 3-11. I will patiently wait for either taking more out, or putting back in, depending on how the market looks like it is going. Good Luck! :Flush:

Churning below 50-day EMA...

lol. Yeah. Almost jumped back in but with 1 IFT left I want to see what Yellen's remarks next week do to the market. Gotta stop looking at the short term I guess. I can't imagine her saying anything negative with the market still so skittish. Long term economic data looks good so I guess I should work on concentrating on the 'big picture'. Especially since we only have 2 IFT's per month anyway. Still learning!

In my experience it's nearly impossible to time the market perfectly with the TSP because of the IFT delay. Leave the market timing to brokerage accounts, the TSP is a long-term investment vehicle, not optimal for trading.

For my TSP moves I only track weekly / monthly charts and have been doing better since doing that. AND probably even more importantly, I'm much less stressed out when I'm not looking at what the market is doing every day :)

I was going to post that I don't agree, but I see you said ...

So I agree, 'perfectly' is impossible.

Nothing's impossible, but you can't deny that the limitations of the TSP make it not very 'trader-friendly'. I leave my trading to the brokerage accts. Right tool for the right job.
