TSP Poker Club

I'm a little concerned that if I do a mass invite to our readers, we could end up with dozens of players. What that could mean is 4 or 5 hour tournaments. That's a turnoff for me. I like the 1 or 2 hours it takes now.

So, if we want to keep it small I'll post a message here in the forum only on Friday / Saturday. If you guys like the idea of going big, I'll post something in Friday's commentary. Since game 1 is coming up we better make a decision quickly.

Thanks.

Your idea about just posting message in Friday commentary would probably work to recruit a few more people. Suspect we'd still end up with not everyone participating every week, same as now. How about trying that and see what happens, Tom?

OK, it's done. I told them to email me or sent them here, so if anyone comes and has any questions, please help them out.

Thanks!

I agree 4+ hours would be way too long for weekly. I'd say 3 hours max, and that's pushing it. We could always play with the blinds if need be. I don't care for when blinds dictate the game near the end, but starting them higher and increasing them slower might help. We can cross that bridge when/if we get there.

they run 5 table (45 person) sit-n-go tourneys on the poker site also, with the same blind and timing structures as the 1 table (9 person) games. they take a bit, but not significantly longer, as 5 tables are all knocking each other out concurrently.

besides, 3 hours is the max time i have found anyone able to listen to my jabbering. most folks after that long just want to shoot themselves and give me their chips and call it a good deal at that point.

It doesn't like like we're going to have to worry. No interest yet.

I'm going to invite my retired gov employee co-worker that I mentioned before.

Would really like to see Fyredog back and hopefully SillBeer will join us. Mathion expressed interest a while back as well. Would be nice to have a few more in the pool.

well tom won the first game this season. he is a very difficult player to figure out because he always waits to make his hand on the river so you never know if you are beat until it's too late. tricky.

If I'd only been there, would have given Tom a harder contest. :nana: Went for all-day hike in mountains with friends, didn't get back til 1730. perfect fall hiking weather, good day, long day. tried to get access to game as an observer, wasn't able to do it, was the game over by 545?

You need to read chapter 10... Get Lucky. :D

I didn't see a whole lot of specifics about prizes except for this post which mentions silver mugs.

With 9 players in the club now, I think top 3 is a reasonable number to be "in the money".

1st Place will get choice of prize ... http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/contest-prizes/3278-contest-prizes.html

... and 2nd and 3rd will get a Silver Mug.

It's not much, but bragging rights are included.

So, I'll need berrycuda and Kuz's shipping info (PM) and berry, please let me know what prize you want from that list in the prior post.

Very unceremonious, huh? :D

Sorry I missed yesterday everyone. Shield Maiden hasn't been feeling well for a few days and I was tired yesterday and sat down for a 15 minute snooze around 4pm and didn't wake up until after 6pm...I'll see you guys next week.

Also, I've reached out to another forum member to see if she is interested in joining the club. She is mulling it over. I hope we can recruit a few more members. If she is interested I'll send her to alevin for specifics on getting signed up, etc.

there is a new software update for the poker site, it took me about 5 minutes to download and install, so if you think you will be late or hustling to get into the upcoming game monday night you might want to login earlier and have things all situated first.

Hi...sorry I missed game last week, but I didnt know a new season had started. So how many weeks will this one go?
Is it 10 out of 13 games????

the games run every alternating sunday or monday night no matter what. poker stars software resets seasons every quarter, oct 01, jan 01, etc.

i think the tsptalk club decided to go with 13 week seasons to coincide with poker site, and that 8 of 13 would count each season, but it doesn't really matter since kuz is keeping our own score.

i feel bad for you that you missed the game last week because it broke your lucky streak snubbing the pokergods like that, now you're on your own and a target.
