TSP Poker Club

another thing to consider in poker is that some folks live for the rush, they cannot resist it. all in! they don't even care if they win or lose any time, they already divorced themselves from their money and only live to see the next drop or rise or the roller coaster. it can be addicting and gratifying in way not often recognized or understood.

your job is to spot those folks and just for fun give them a nice ride but not care a whit when they crash. wheee!

Been there many times....and the rush was worth it every time!

I see that discussing hands by talking vs. typing are two different things. Too much typing for me. :D

The question on whether one is making a mistake is if they would make the same move if they knew what the other player's cards were. Had I known you had an Ace / rag in that situation I'd have to fold. KJ off suit is a POS hand in a raised pot in the middle of the tournament, but heads up it goes up in value.

When heads up and the villain goes all in pre-flop when they have a lot of chips left and their opponent also has a lot of chips it tells me either they have no hand and they are bluffing, or possibly the hand isn't that good and they don't want a call - a hand like Q-10, T9s, or even 33. If you had AA, KK, QQ, or even JJ (KK and JJ less likely since I have one of each), you probably want a call and you don't raise that much. Of course now that I said that I know you might do it with AA next time. :D

It also depends on the player, how many chips they have left, how many you have, your current table (I can't think of the right word) "persona" (have you been aggressive or passively lately), etc. And of course whether your opponent has a casserole in the oven that may be close to burning. :)

just don't forget the 60/40 split. whammo kablammo. it is predictable and consistently replicatable. you can play those odds with confidence... if you can spot them. they will happen either way. best to be on the right side of the dime.

also, i hardly ever cook. and i hate casseroles. out here they call them 'hot dish'. and they usually have tater tots in them. i hate tater tots. at taco john's they call tater tots "potato ole's". i have been to mexico and they do not have tater tots there. nor potato oleys. (out here 'oley' is a common norwegian and joke name for 'johnny'). but you dance with the one who brung ya.

see you all sunday, sunday, sunday...

One thing I know, in the last two tournaments I have been hit by the deck. Big starting hands, hitting flops, making draws. It's been fun. I know it won't last forever so I'll take it. :1244:

The deck was good to me the game before last, even had me thinking I had burro on the run when it was down to final 3 there for a bit. :D and then I lost it all pretty quick after that.

daaammmnnn! longest game ever. you'd think it was world series of poker or something. folks just refuse to go down and stay down.

there were two great classic hands there that i sort of remember. one against tom and one against userque. excellent play.

i would be very careful with my buy in and bankroll around every one of the tsptalk poker club folks. they will strip you bare.

there is nothing wrong with 2nd place, burro, there is nothing wrong with second place, click your ruby heels burro, there is nothing wrong with second place.

i recognize odds and fair play and luck and as much as it may not seem like it the emotions come and go but matter not a whit. but dognammit, i really wanted to win that one, i was gonna take that sonofabitch down, hard. but it didn't happen. this time.

Dear burro,

Before we even met, you were 2nd place to me. After I found this site, you were still in your place. Going forward, you will stay in your place.

That is all,

Didn't make it home in time. I was already out by the time I got home around 915. I tried to get in from the app, but I didn't see any options for club tournaments, and it didn't automatically popup when the time came.

discuss math. the hand with attitude where i had AKo vs his AQo. that is another favorable split. it went to the flop this time before all the chips went in but my money went in good. i won that one so that is 1 for 2 but 50/50 does not a 60/40 or 70/30 split win rate make. yet.

that time it was about bets and not odds. he would not make a 3 bet pre-flop with trash, and he would slow play or bet big and shut down any draws if he had a made hand. so my AK was good. why not bet hard my AK leader in that situation? because i don't want to run if he is slow playing a pair, and i don't want to scare him off yet if a queen doesn't hit (pretty sure he thought he had two over cards to my 'bluff' bet which was really a made pair of kings with an ace kicker).

so i wait one time for the cards to show. flop comes K-7-2, no flush or straight draws out there. that is my money then, 90/10 at that point. pound it. so i did.

feel free to post videos or other more accurate accounts if you have them observations, i play mostly by feel and that one felt good the whole way.

Yeah, I looked a while back. Looks like they don't include Home games in the mobile android app. I think gata discovered that even prior.

and there is a second hand to discuss, when i had chip lead against userque heads up for the whole shebang. me: A8, q: QJ. that is a 55/45 split. and i will take that every time in that situation too.

because i had him covered with chips and if he fails to hit the tourney is over. winner burro right there.

flop comes J x x, now he leads 85/15. turn comes A, now i take my rightful winning place 90/10. river comes J. crap. it happens.

if that jack does not river i take 1st place. that is two tourneys in a row i had the table covered and the odds going in. that is ok. there is always next monday monday monday. i will always win those hands more often than not, just not always on any given night. unless me or the villians change their style.

Actually I had AQs and flopped the nut flush draw. Still a bad call on my part b/c I knew I was beat. I had too many chips to gamble like that so early.
