Safe Travels, FS !

...and just FYI....my Friends and I recently had our weekend "Annual Reunion", where we conducted a rigorous scientific poll, of some rank amateur rye and bourbon drinkers, over the long weekend. We're usually just beer kinda people... :D

The Angel's Envy Rye barely won, over the Whistle Pig... The Angel's Envy Bourbon was also very good...The Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon was deemed, at 120 proof, a little too over the top for our tastes, and the maple-flavored concoction brought by 1 couple was deemed "unacceptable" by all...unless it was poured over ice cream, or maybe put on pancakes or something...nobody tried those options...

A curious thing that will probably make purists recoil with horror...some of the Women decided they wanted theirs on the rocks, since it was hotter than Hades on the back porch where we conducted our survey. I argued loudly and long that melted water would corrupt the testing, but I lost. My compromise was to pour my second "sample" shot in a glass with 1 ice cube, swirl it around a little, and then pour it back in the shot glass. I must admit...the chilled version of both was pretty darn tasty !!! I think these Women might be on to something !!! :D

Let us know what you sample, and buy !!!

Stoplight...

Hey StopLight:

Have you heard of a bourbon called Earl's Toadsuck? It's probably closer to moonshine than bourbon but I laughed out loud when one of Shield Maiden's sister suggested I should try to find some while in AR. Personally, my wife's sister is a real joker and I think she is pulling my leg. But we'll see. I love quests! BTW: That sounds like quite the get together. Nothing like good friends and the world's best bourbon. I liked your cool down the shot idea. That will work well here. Hopefully the trip will be successful and I will return to the hot dry desert with a full set of provisions. Arrived in Flagstaff last evening. Today Mesa Verde and the 4 Corners. All the best.

FS: Maybe Shield Maiden's sister was just pulling your toe!!!

I must admit, I love Bourbon too but I have not yet gotten the bug to be a connoisseur like StopLight ... as long as the first shot tastes good, down it goes!!! But I have gotten into the habit of bringing a few bottles of wine when we do day-trips to the river... we test new wines while in the river...... bring little plastic cups..... and away we go....!

Hope you all have a great time on your adventure!!! Let us know if you find Earl's Toadsuck! That is just CRAZY!!! lol..... :D

I think I KO'd Gator. Attitude KO'd me. Sorry I'm not much help. Maybe if other folk remember their own info, you can put together the full details.

It does help. But not for the reasons k0 is looking for. :D

Before last night I had 2 or 3 really bad games. I've come to the conclusion that I can win when I get good cards. Otherwise, not so much. That's not a good sign.

Hi... Was just watching Poker on TV. Scratching my head on this one ...help! Just cant imagine folding this.

Final Table at Bellagio -Heads up poker 300/150. Bill is big blind.

Bill has Q hearts, 7 spade.
Opponent had 7 hearts, 5 diamond.
(Pre-flop, no raise and just call)
Flop: 6,5 spades, and J diamonds
(Opponent makes pair 5s)
(pre-turn Check, check)
Turn: 4 spades
(Bill bets $300k with possible open-ended straight, possible flush, and is called)
River: 9 spades (Bill makes his flush, opponent still has 5 pair.)
Final bet: Bill bets 400k and opponent bets 1.2M. (Bill folds flush)

Why did Bill fold with a flush?
Bill would maybe fold if he thought opponent had 2,3 spades to make straight-flush. Is this the only thing that could beat him?

Was it possible for opponent to beat Bill with a higher spade than Bill's 7 spade?
Would either of their kickers come into play if both players had a spade?

I can't believe I didn't see this thread until a couple days ago. Anyways, I'm all signed up and looking for your money.

... I'm all signed up and looking for your money.

Get in line, sillbeer. which end of the line you end up in may come as a surprise. some excellent players already geared up to take your beer money.
which one takes it all home seems to vary week by week, watch out for each and every one of us. :D And welcome, we do have unfilled chairs some nights. and at least once we've needed 2 tables. so the more the merrier. Its all for fun and repartee, no real money changing hands.

It depends on a few things like stack size, but the 8, 10, J, Q, K, or A of spades beats Bill, (as well as 2,3s). That's a lot of heat when his opponent could have any one of those to take it. And if that would have put Bill all-in you just don't take that kind of chance when your tournament like is on the line - unless the other guy is an open book (easy to read).

Okay. So a higher flush does matter. I was thinking they would split pot. It was for about 1/3 of his stack. Sizeable! Thanks for explanation. I need to read a rules book. :embarrest:

So based on these two things, it doesn't make sense lol
Attitude had 3 KOs, including him self, and two others. 1 was obviously Berry. The last one was either Gata or Stu, can't be both.

So if Tom KOed Stu, than Gata had to be KOed by Berry, and her 2nd KO must have been Winter.
If Tom KOed Gata, than Its a toss up between Berry and Gata KOing Winter and Stu.

I know I KO'd stupa and berry. Gata booted gator I believe. The rest is vague.

I went all in on Attitude and I lost it all except my knickers - don't look stu! :embarrest:
EDIT: I thought I only had one KO and that was Gator. sorry, I forgot to log in last night and check how many KO's each person had. Maybe someone not working can log in?

Then I guess Attitude didn't take all my chips like I thought...I have a hard time moving that ALL-IN button across the screen...I usually leave a few chips behind.
