Safe Travels, FS !
...and just FYI....my Friends and I recently had our weekend "Annual Reunion", where we conducted a rigorous scientific poll, of some rank amateur rye and bourbon drinkers, over the long weekend. We're usually just beer kinda people...
The Angel's Envy Rye barely won, over the Whistle Pig... The Angel's Envy Bourbon was also very good...The Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon was deemed, at 120 proof, a little too over the top for our tastes, and the maple-flavored concoction brought by 1 couple was deemed "unacceptable" by all...unless it was poured over ice cream, or maybe put on pancakes or something...nobody tried those options...
A curious thing that will probably make purists recoil with horror...some of the Women decided they wanted theirs on the rocks, since it was hotter than Hades on the back porch where we conducted our survey. I argued loudly and long that melted water would corrupt the testing, but I lost. My compromise was to pour my second "sample" shot in a glass with 1 ice cube, swirl it around a little, and then pour it back in the shot glass. I must admit...the chilled version of both was pretty darn tasty !!! I think these Women might be on to something !!!
Let us know what you sample, and buy !!!
Stoplight...
Hey StopLight:
Have you heard of a bourbon called Earl's Toadsuck? It's probably closer to moonshine than bourbon but I laughed out loud when one of Shield Maiden's sister suggested I should try to find some while in AR. Personally, my wife's sister is a real joker and I think she is pulling my leg. But we'll see. I love quests! BTW: That sounds like quite the get together. Nothing like good friends and the world's best bourbon. I liked your cool down the shot idea. That will work well here. Hopefully the trip will be successful and I will return to the hot dry desert with a full set of provisions. Arrived in Flagstaff last evening. Today Mesa Verde and the 4 Corners. All the best.
