TSP Poker Club

hahaha. not any harder than she did tho. There were not many pre-flop bets, or that many all ins.

Maybe its just me, I think cougar is just as good as anyone else here. I believe she would be ranked #2 right now if yesterday's tourney counted... and that's no fluke.

I'm humbled by all your praises but seriously, I don't even know poker terms much less use them appropriately. Up until recently, I thought it was a sin to get felted by strangers and definitely going to hell if felted by more than one stranger in the same night. :cheesy:I'm just a Ninja Cat. I rely on being swift and nimble. And it doesn't hurt to have nine lives. If your chips suddenly disappear, you can be sure a Ninja Cat stole them.

I have two. I have Poker Cruncher and I think the other one I have is Poker Tracker. But I can't make heads or tails with either one. :cheesy: Poker Cruncher is not allowed in PokerStars but PokerTracker is (if PT is in fact the other software that I own)...You don't even have to download your hand files. You log into PokerStars through PokerTracker and it automatically saves all your game stats based on whatever setting you apply. Used it once and it looked like hieroglyphics and I never used it again. As I stated before, I'm an amateur so was not able to learn anything from it...yet.

Nope not yet, haven't had an opportunity to look at the options yet. Any suggestions?

Poker Tracker used to be the best. I suspect it still is. They are on version 4. I have version 3.

I posted a while back that there's a list of prohibited software on the PS website. I would check that first if you are going to use PT's HUD's while on PS. I think the HUD part may actually be a separate app now. But the software would probably let you know these things as well.

Some players used to simply observe poker rooms while the software sucked in all the data, even though they weren't playing. That was made a violation by PS. If you buy the latest version, I'm sure it'll become clear, but always check the PS site to be certain. PT aimed/aims to be a legit business.

There are some companies that produce software that clearly violates TOS's. So check things out first and let us know what you come up with. :)

PT has manual import and auto import.

PS pushes the history to your computer. Then, PT imports the histories into itself.

You use auto-import. I use manual. Auto-import means PT is running on your computer while you are also running PS. I don't use PT while I'm actually playing poker, so I don't need it using computer resources since I might be surfing the interwebs and making k0n training videos, and etc.

When I actually used PT, I used it to analyze my overall play. To find my leaks, as they are called; not for hand to hand, interim decisions.

I believe that PT has the ability to "advice" how to play your hand (check, fold, call, etc), but that feature is disabled when you use it with PokerStars. It's pretty easy to use. Within PT, you select which poker site you want to use and it adjusts setting accordingly to comply with TOS of the particular poker site. I just wish I knew how to apply the information.:(

I can see the real-time guidance being helpful to prevent completely goofball decisions (like calling a big bet looking for a straight when you need runner-runner), but outside of that, I would think it would hinder you.

Like userque said earlier: Play the person, not the cards.

I don't see it being of any use during real time game play. Just wanted to use it to analyze my moves post game to see where I could improve. But honestly, I don't think it revealed anything that Userque and Burro haven't already pointed out to me.

Exactly what I'm looking for. But I need quite a bit more data to do that.

People used to laugh at me when I was training for triathlons because I'd wear a heart monitor just for data collection (synced with my Garmin 310XT), not for a heart condition or to make real time decisions; I just liked comparing all the data in excel

Have you gotten your OCD checked? :D

I found that those guidance systems dumb down your poker skills. (They can help you learn. I view them like training wheels. Eventually, you should to get rid of them.) I always want my best play to be live poker, not online poker...at least right now--while online real money poker is still illegal in most states.

EDIT: Since you can't use real-time tools in live poker, I don't use them online. "You play like you practice." As coach used to say.

Yeah, you (of course, not YOU personally :) ) eventually have to learn to play the person and to play the table...after you learn how to play the cards. :)

Yeah, no kidding. Sometimes I select "fold" when I still have the opportunity to select "check".

follow up on the season standings thing: i received an email reply saying they are looking into it and i responded that last night's game also does not show for standings. this may be a case of operator error when i set up the tournaments. anyways, they may be able to be restored and counted. but if not, we should log everything we know about the ones we've played so far so that we can fill in the blanks or declare our own winners and start a new set of games structured correctly starting next week or else add them manually to pokersite results. i am open to all suggestions and there is no intention to monkey with the results or recorded winners. we all know who played how anyways. text of the follow up email and my response below:

Thank you for checking into this. We also had another tournemant on Monday night at 8:00 pm eastern last night Feb 22 that we played. I may have not set the tournament parameters correctly in either of them as I am new to this, but the intention was to have both the Sunday and Monday games be recurring each week at the same time and also have them both count for season standings.

If there is any way to have both of these games mentioned in the email recorded as countying for season points I would sure appreciate it. Thank for your attention to this matter.

Stewart Pahdahso.

i want to thank you all for participating because i look forward to checking in on this thread on breaks and lunchtime and reading the discussions. there is lots of good poker things being talked about and some valuable advice. and some funny stuff too. this has been really fun so far and i hope it continues. good job tsp poker club folks.

i used pokertracker at one time too, after i got it for free from bonus points or loyalty something or the other, many years and machines ago couple lifetimes ago. i think it was from full tilt play i got it that time. but i played all the sites at one point or another. i quit using pt after i learned to judge a range of hand's potential against different types of opponents in different short or long handed tables and blind situations, and i am not a numbers person i am a feel guy. but it is pretty cool what those things can show you at first.

i have never been a ring game player because i am not a robot, i thrive in tourneys. i never did well in the $100+ buyin big multi tourneys. but i could crush the $10 +rebuy +addon games. at most i would be in $50-60 while others would sweeten the eventual pot to several thousands, each in maybe $100-150. thanks donks.

i don't even remember the names i used to play under in those days.
