Timing of a TSP Interfund Transfer?

I moved money from the C fund to the G fund on Tuesday afternoon when the market was going down. I know it was too late to prevent absorbing Tuesday's losses. Then the market went way up on Wednesday. So my question is whether I get lucky and the TSP does my transfer at Wednesday's closing price or if the transfer is done at the previous day's (Tuesday's) closing price?

You will get Wednesday closing price your IFT was placed after 12:00 EST. If you had done it before noon on Tuesday, it would be Tuesday COB. You should get an email tonight after the IFT is processed (could be after midnight on extra busy days), when you can check under recent transactions to see how it was calculated. Your account balance usually won't be updated until tomorrow morning.

"When Do Contribution Allocations Take Effect?

Online and Telephone

Contribution allocations made on the TSP website or the ThriftLine before 12 noon Eastern time are generally processed on that business day. Requests made after 12 noon Eastern time are generally processed the next business day."

Simply, before noon ET Tues. will get you Tuesday's closing prices. After noon ET Tues. will get you Wednesday's.

FYI. The emails do not indicate when transfers were made, nor when they will-be/are effective.

And- don’t forget the “generally” clause. It has been known to take an extra day on rare occasions; and I remember more than once, trying to get into the TSP website at 10 minutes before noon, only to have the website fail to complete the transaction before noon-

They have improved internet capacity in the last few years, but it is always possible that it may become clogged, especially if we get a flash-crash day where the market in general gets hit hard. Anything is possible.

I know that there is a limit of 2 IFT per month. If I did an IFT before 12:00PM on 31st of March, is this IFT counted as 1 IFT in March or April ?
