The last hour today is going to be sweet tasting for the bulls. We love to get the black berries before the bears do - throw in apples too. Snort.

The Week Ahead

Last Update: 05-Oct-07 14:02 ET

Looking at the week ahead should whet investors' appetites as a fresh batch of economic data and quarterly earnings reports are expected.

On Tuesday market pundits will be combing the minutes from the latest FOMC meeting, seeking clues related to the committee's thoughts on economic growth and inflation concerns. The economic reports of consequence during the week will be the PPI and Retail Sales reports for September, both of which will be released before the start of Friday's trading.

Those reports, and others, can be previewed on our Economic Calendar.

Several large cap companies will report their latest results as the third quarter reporting period gets under way officially with Alcoa's (AA) report after the close on Tuesday. Briefing.com's earnings calendar shows YUM! Brands (YUM), Monsanto (MON), Costco (COST), Progressive (PGR), Fastenal (FAST), PepsiCo (PEP), SLM Corp (SLM), Winnebago (WGO), and General Electric (GE) are all due to report their results.

FTSE not liking something and the dollar index is rising. Going to work early to make that extra 8 hours of A/L.

The intermediate term problem currently is the non-confirmation of the Dow Jones Transportation Average, which hit its July record and its August low on the same days as the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and hasn't followed the industrials back to an all time peak this month, yet. The MSCI Emerging Markets index is up 28% from its August low, more than doubling the gain of the domestic market. Hedge funds look to be moving into large cap stocks to ride this rally, although small caps were hot last week.

Cramer is on Today show and he sez we need another rate cut, gas to go down, job to be created. Hold your house if you can.

Walmart is cutting prices for the Holiday as are other retailers. Retailers are getting worried and more consumers plan to cut back and bargain shop.

I should have known that but I was at work yesterday and very frustrated.

Never believe the experts at the paint store that tell you the epoxy paint will be dry and ready for use in 8 hours. Download the spec sheet and you will find that it is Fully Cured for service in 7 days.:embarrest: lol And they call it FAST CURE EPOXY. LOL :laugh:

Look at the volume on Goldman Sachs after the minutes were released at 2pm today... that's institutional buying -- they're chasing... this bull ain't comin' back to bargain sale prices for a while. It's not just because GS broke out above their cup. They're chasing a lot of the primo tickers.

Man, quality posts have really diminished the past several days on this board, especially considering it appears we are on a breakout levels.
