Tax Cuts

Bernie is going to filibuster.

Rebuttal.

1. The American people were OUTRAGED that the Dems held the Health Care debate and writing the bill HOSTAGE and the mid-term election proved it.

2. Driving up the National Debt? That was done with SPENDING YOU MORON IDIOT CAREER POLITICIAN. You can't drive up the National Debt by not taxing, you drive it up by UNCONTROLLED SPENDING.

3. No Republican will support your position after the "SHELLACKING" your party took in the election. They have the momentum now thanks to your party.

4. You're out of time Bernie, the tax code has to be published in order to allow people to file their income taxes. Your party started loosing power beginning with former Sen. Kennedy's seat, a historical election loss. One historical loss after another and you go back to this ridiculous posturing. lol You're the minority now Bernie, go home.

5. Do you believe it is the end on what the Democrats want? You believe you have the American people on your side? Did you not watch the SHELLACKING YOUR PARTY TOOK IN THE LAST ELECTION?

Just shows the complete and utter disconnect from REALITY.

The 2000 election Democratic glow is fading quickly. There's always 2016. ROFLMAO

Here is a little taste of what your crooked Democrates call fair and equal.

More Health Waivers

5:30 am December 7, 2010, by Jamie Dupree
The Obama Administration has quietly granted even more waivers to one provision of the new federal health reform law, doubling the number in just the last three weeks to a new total of 222.

One of the more recognizable business names included on the newly-expanded list of waivers issued by the feds is that of Waffle House, which received a waiver on November 23 for health coverage that covers 3,947 enrollees.

Another familiar name was that of Universal Orlando, which runs a variety of very popular resorts in the Orlando, Florida area. Universal was given a waiver for plans that cover 668 workers.

These waivers deal with limited health benefit plans, sometimes referred to as "mini-med" policies, which companies as large as McDonald's use for some its employees.

The plan have limits on how much can be paid out in coverage, limits which would be phased out under the new health reform law.

The feds though have granted waivers from that law, amid concern that certain groups would drop their health insurance programs entirely. Those waivers are good for one year, and can be considered for renewal.

A spokeswoman for Waffle House refused to explain the need for the waiver, saying "because Waffle House is a private company, we are going to decline to comment."

As for Universal Orlando, a spokesman defended the waiver in an email on Monday evening.

"The new legislation would have left our part-time workers without their medical coverage," said Tom Schroder of Universal Orlando Public Relations.

"We sought the waiver so that we could continue to provide them with the coverage they need and deserve," Schroder added.

The information on the waivers, which is buried deep on the web site of the U.S. Health & Human Services Department, shows that since it was last updated in mid-November, the number of waivers issued has gone from 111 to 222, covering organizations as diverse as the "Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Ogdensburg" to the "Pearson Candy Company."

You can find a list of all of the 222 waivers at http://is.gd/iiw3u

With regard to the unemployment benefits extension, Limbaugh was <breaking news> today in clarifying that the extension was not additive to 99. The extension ensured those who did not make the federal portion of the full 99 week program before Dec 31, after their first 26 state weeks ended, will be eligible for the full 99 weeks. So we are still not challenging Europe on length. But he mentioned, I think, something about the ability to drop off the 99 weeks and then restart. i didn't follow that for sure but I think I heard it.

Why yes, tax rates had everything to do with American economic power in the '50s and '60s and it had nothing to do with any of the following:

- half of Europe was under Soviet control
- all of Europe and much of Asia was rebuilding following WWII; the US mainland was never bombed or invaded during the war
- China and India had yet to emerge as economic powers
- the US had a higher worker to retiree ratio than it does now

Anybody else want to throw out some nonsensically simplistic ideas about America's position in the world? Anyone? Bueller?

Here's an easy solution to our tax problems: abandon the income tax altogether and replace it with a consumption tax. Going nuts on consumerism is generally seen as a bad thing, so why not tax it? Working is seen as a good thing, so why tax it? The objective should be a more productive and frugal society - and the best way to achieve that IMHO is to switch to a national sales tax. Essentials such as food could be taxed at a low rate while luxury items could be assigned a higher rate. That's how you make what is typically a regressive tax into a more progressive one.

I have 2 copies of "the FairTax Book" by John Linder and Neal Boortz.

If anybody would like to read it, send me your name and address in a private message and I'll mail it to you with the understanding that you will mail it to the next person on the list.

It's not a long read. You could probably read it from start to finish on a flight from LAX to ATL.

I'll take 5 names per book.

I've been an advocate of FairTax after reading the book several years ago. Passed my copy on to a friend with a banking family generational trust and good conservative fiscal skills, asked him to tell me what he thought about it. He was engaged in longterm care for parents-Alzheimers and frailty, with both parents at the time using those trust funds to cover care for them, don't know if he ever got around to reading it, he retired before we ever discussed, haven't seen much of him since then, lives in another town. One of these days, I'll ask him when I see him.

Excellent point, Michael!

Plus, the Black Market economy will end up paying tax on ill gotten gains (which avoids income tax) as they spend their money on bling, cigarette boats, SUVs, etc... I suspect the "hidden economy" which would finally end up contributing under such a scenario would produce an amazing amount of income. Plus, those who currently avoid substantial taxes through loopholes would pay taxes for the same reasons.

WH, lawmakers clear way for tax cut bill passage

WASHINGTON – The White House and key lawmakers cleared the way Thursday night for swift Senate action to avert a Jan. 1 spike in income taxes for nearly all Americans, agreeing to extend breaks for ethanol and other forms of alternative energy as part of the deal.
Tax provisions aimed at increasing production of hybrid automobiles, biodiesel fuel, energy-efficient homes, coal and energy-efficient household appliances would be extended through the end of 2011 under the bill.
Debate on the expanded measure began almost immediately. While there is no precise timetable for passage, a Test Vote was set for Monday afternoon that appears likely to demonstrate overwhelmingly support for the legislation, which supporters say would help accelerate a sluggish recovery from recession.

I think this one means you can still get a TAX CREDIT of 30% of what you spent on energy efficient stuff..up to a total of $1500.00 through cy 2011, for buying energy efficient A/C-Furnaces, Insulation, and stuff like that...As this was suppose to be the LAST YEAR for this credit..

I got my $1500.00 by putting on a new solar efficient roof system and adding insulation to the addict.

We added insulation to our attic too. Went from R30 to R50 and the air conditioning bills went down immediately. Then we put special window screens on all the south facing windows. They let in light but not heat. Finally made the office cool enough that we don't have to use extra measures to keep the computer equipment cool.

And we still have a few hundred of our $1,500 left, if we can think of something else that will help. Very handy!

Good job Ann..Every little thing helps ..It's a little up front cost, but you win two ways..in the utility costs and the tax credit..eventually you'll break even and then some.
