System Comments

No need, as this is not a personal finance site, nor does it aspire to be. This is fundamentally a TSP site e.g., "TSP" talk. These are much different than this site, and were evidently organized for such a purpose. Please contribute to them, or the CFC, your church, etc...

It seems that you have come here with a basic misunderstanding of what this site is for. I must tell you that this site may never meet your expectations, should they remain firmly set in the concept that Tom wants to remain profit free. If this does not seem right to you, then you might want to consider establishing a charitable TSP discussion site.

You don't seem to be aware of what is abundantly apparent regarding all the things that you imply implicitly through the things you write. Your pain is obvious, and your written expressions that are so angry and sarcastic in tone and timber demonstrate much more than you are willing or able to reflect upon.

I hope that you are able to integrate these difficult and stressful negative stressors. :)

Even your avatar seems to be telling your story...

Be at peace, receive much joy...

Best wishes,

All false.

To deny is one thing, to refute quite another... :)

Which you simply did not do. That's enough of this since I simply don't have the time. If you want to discuss my initial post, lets do so. If you feel you need to talk about how you percieve my emotions and your baseless assumptions, I simply don't have the time. Let me know when you want to have a real discussion. My guess is never.

We simply disagree over Tom's right to make a buck.

I support it, and you want to launch baseless and untrue statements regarding his motives and the purpose of this site...

Do you have the time? It's later than you think...

Virginiabob,

I remember answering many questions for new members as they joined the board. In fact I recall addressing some I-fund questions you had. I still continue to address new members questions as they join our ranks. I enjoy it, I don't make any money for my efforts - I recieve no monetary compensation from the site for moderating. I do it because I think we have a great thing going.....

And it is going......

Only one thing has changed since I first began at this site. RevShark went from free to premium. There was no Trader Fred or Ebb when I started. I've seen the rise of several folks, including Ebb. 350z had a tremendous start and so did 12% (did he make a single bad move his first three months on the board?), what about all the other folks that have come in and made significant contributions? I'm enjoying Uptrend and steadygain, have you been reading their posts?

Nothing has changed, the MB is the same, the names may change but the comraderie is as strong as ever. The tracker has improved a 1000% due to the uncompensated efforts of Ocean. The site continues to evolve and grow and if a few folks with some real talent are compensated for their efforts - that seems ok to me. If Ebb's going premium has been such a signficant loss for you, then that should tell you the value of his system.

I think this site is excellent and I enjoy all of it's dynamics. I wholeheartedly believe Tom deserves to make a few bucks for what he has brought us.

Griffin,

We appreciate your service to the board. I would have been better following you the last few years than not. Since around March of this year, per Birchtree's method I have been buy and hold as my signatures shows, so I have not been following a premium system anyways. I was following ebb from January 2007 to March 2007 along with 12% (a combination of the two) and made some independent moves of my own during that period as well (the W pattern). I think it is OK to criticize the premium systems, especially in light of the way one of them has been performing since it has gone premium. Those that criticize the premium systems should not be met with personal attacks as one member has decided to do. I believe we all would agree that this hurts the integrity of these boards. In the same sense, it should be OK to criticize this site in general. I hope that the admin would value the criticism (whether they agree with it or not) rather than support those who personally attack those that criticize this site. I appreciate your comments and understand that it is ok for us to respectfully disagree on some matters and agree on others.

Bob

Can you articulate the concern of your initial post? What is it you want us to know?

It seems that it still is the issue of how you feel deep anguish over the fact that Ebb went for profit, and that you feel that this board is persecuting you (worried about being "silenced"). The fact is, you have not been attacked, but in truth have been extended care and concern, and thorough explanations. Even when you attacked Tom, you were not responded to in kind.

You are the one who has chosen to express yourself in a forum, and offered a critique of the board and the motives of those who manage it. Should your critique stand alone and unchallenged? To maintain such a stance declares yourself to be the sole owner of empirical truth.

Can anyone challenge your critique without themselves being accused of sinister motives? Just as your implication of conspiracy regarding the release of the tallies was misplaced, so too your anger.

As far as the recent performance of the EbbTracker, anyone who subscribes to any service must be willing to understand that you will go through times of loss as well as gain. To imply that their is a link between the move to subscription and the downturn in the performance of the EbbTracker begs the notion of superstition.

I continue to encourage you to let it go and move on...

The EbbTracker is now for profit, and Tom has the right to make a profit.

Be at peace, :)

As you continue to invite me to respond "let me know when you want to have a real discussion", I am compelled. :)

Let's see, this is the text of your "initial post"... (SHHHH! Don't bash the "system". We wouldn't want to hurt the site's profits.)

What is in this text that you would like to discuss? As the context is rather limited, what are we do deduce but your emotions? You articulate neither fact nor reason here. However, your sarcasm is abundant, and sarcasm is the mask of anger.

You seem to have the "time" to "hit and run", but when confronted, you seem to try to divert and obfuscate. You have brought heat and smoke to the issue of Ebb's service, but no real light.

I encourage you to make the time and take the time to sort out these issues. I would however encourage caution using a public forum for this exercise, as you may receive feedback that could call into dispute your assertions. If you find you have low tolerance for opposing opinions and input from others, then why do you seek their agreement and approval?

Maybe you owe Tom and the moderators an apology?

Let it go... move on... be at peace... don't worry... be happy... :)

And yet, you keep asking... maybe it's the "last word" that you need? If so, then you have it my friend. Be well. :)

I'll tell you a little story about a Sergeant Major that I considered a friend. While by rank, I outranked him, the nature of our positions warranted that as a company commander and him a battalion sergeant major, I should listen to his criticism's since he was the right hand man of my boss. We found ourselves on the opposite sides of a rather serious issue as the primary propenents of our positions, and it got down right ugly, froth and spittle ugly. In the end, I was right, but my character was severly damaged because of my "tact". I had discussed the issue very politely a half dozen times with the Sergeant Major and he refused to back down, which is why I finally had to go ballistic and call him out in front of the entire battalion staff. I did put the boss in a very uncomfortable situation, but I won and I lost because I lost a friend and that sergeant major continued to undermine me for quite awhile after that and it negatively impacted my career.

Morale of the story is, right or wrong, there is a certain amount of tact that is expected, especialy of members that have been long time contributor's such as yourself. If you have constructive criticism - make it constructive. If it helps great, but if it is met with resistance, consider the viablility of falling on your sword over it. It's an imperfect world. I wish the site was 100% free and all that contributed made oodles of money for doing so.

Fully agreed and to further that point, a good solution to an opposing discussion is simply agreeing to disagree. I hope all would follow this advice and not resort to personal attacks. ;) I also agree that I wish this site was 100% free and we all made oodles of money. Hopefully the market will cooperate through the holiday season.
