My favorite read of the morning was Mark Young and the SmartCharts Team.

Unsurprisingly, the Bears couldn't get much going. Of course they couldn't. The trend is up, we're in a Bull, and a ton of managers are under-exposed."
I like what I read on their charts and comments. Based on that and what I'm seeing on my own charts at FreeStockCharts.com I'm changing my allocation to put more of my TSP in CS and I.
The allocation breakout I'm going with is based on forward weighted 5 day moving averages vs. forward weighted 20 day moving averages, position in bollinger bands, and direction of the moving 200 day volume weighted price averages.
At COB today I'll be 60% G, 5% F, 15% C, 10% S and 15% I Fund.

Thanks for the reminder, Handballer. However, in this incarnation I'm not on the tracker yet. I'm trying to decide whether to wait for January or not.

In the Stockcharts.com Chartwatchers Newsletter today, Richard Rhodes suggested that the S&P 500 might revisit the historical October bottom. In this same issue, Carl Swenlin said that his technical charting system had just issued a buy signal.
Things that make you go hm-m-m-m. :blink:
Although Rhodes has a good reputation, I usually have more confidence in the way Swenlin explains and charts out his work. And I really hope that Swenlin has the correct call this time!
Tomorrow I'm headed for the tall pines for the last serenity recharge of the year. With the markets at these kinds of pivot points I'm glad I'll have my mobile wi-fi gadget with me.
I've left a couple of cream filled bundt cakes in the freezer and the fridge is stocked with drinks. Please make yourself at home while I'm gone.

I'm making an IFT today to bring more money into S and I Funds. At COB today my TSP will be 40% G Fund (got to protect that seed corn), 10% F Fund, 15% C Fund, 15% S Fund and 20% I Fund.
I had already planned to move some from G to I because of the lower dollar, but after Coolhand posted his move (huge thanks, CH!) I went back and studied the S Fund charts and decided that I needed more in S as well.

It's coming up on the 38th anniversary of the day I married my very best friend. Now that we're both retired we're going to go somewhere to celebrate. But we haven't decided where yet.

I just had to come by for some of that ice cream cake Happy anniversary.
An observation - I was minding my own business (which I'm very good at), buying some groceries at my local large chain grocery store, when I noticed some Chinese wondering around with cameras and video equipment, pounding on the support posts and video taping shoppers and workers in the store. Apart from feeling annoyed at being caught on tape with my groceries in my hand and the weird deja vu feeling taking me back to the nineties when Japanese with cameras were everywhere, I had a very strong 'uh oh' moment.
At the checkout counter I asked if the grocery store was going to be sold to the Chinese and the clerk confirmed that the Chinese were there to look at the store. Admittedly they could be there just to see how this chain operates so they can take that info back to start their own version of this grocery chain in China, but why look at this store which is not the biggest or located in a large metro city like DC.
So, I'm left thinking they are going to buy this chain, which leads to some more speculation about the health of this corporation and why the Chinese would want to buy the end of the food supply chain. Moving down this very speculative path, I wonder if we will start seeing Chinese food products in this store. Even after these very initial speculations, I can't help but go to the Firefly universe (watching Castle last night made the connection) and wonder if this is the cultural beginning that leads to a melding of the best of both societies. Or will the Chinese follow the path of the Japanese when the USA finds that next bubble in the economy.
