Show-me Account Talk

Hi Show-me,

No matter how much grease it takes, bailout passes today or soon. with 1st IFT on 10/1, I'm 15%C, 30S, 5I. Do you think its too late to buy more of ? today? I've got a 2 hr meeting this morn. Thanks in advance.

This market sucks for TSP. The tick can be down in the morning a race up in the afternoon and hose ya bad. It is a huge gamble short term and I am holding intermediate term.

It is never too late to buy but it can go either direction.

Damn, I sound like a political candidate.

No, a political candidate would attempt to sound more sure of themselves so they won't be accused of causing panic. Of course with carefully worded caveats.

We are the best looking ugly guy at the dance for now. And, we can't cut rates much more before we get to zero, we can print a ton of new money. Where is that money supply number they did away with?

I hate this legislation and I am disappointed. This will be about foreign banks and countries and the tremendous about of debt we owe them.

I wish I had sold my AIG today, but my limit was set too high. I need to scalp a small profit, let the funds settle and add it to October's contributions so I can have more share buying power.

Cheers and here's to next week.

Re: Poolman's Account Talk

Random thoughts.

USO or oil.

http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=USO&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p51972347693

USD or Dollar index.

http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=$USD&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p51972347693

My IRA trade UYG or 2X long financials.

http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=UYG&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p65726567532

Double bottom on USO, double top on dollar, support on UYG.

Went long UYG as it is bouncing off of support again. Bad thing is the more you bounce off of support the greater the odds of it breaking down and going lower.

My hope is that everyone sold into the news and did not want to hold into the weekend. Next week will be interesting as Paulson will be putting together a program and my hope again is that speculation will drive the market up, up ,up.

I am not in love with the upside. As for my TSP, I am DCA into this market and I am once again, hoping, that the dollar breaks down.

Rate cut in the next week or two is a good bet. It will take time for Treasury to put together a program and the Fed will need to fill in until then.

Show-me! You are so awesome!

I was wondering today how I was going to keep up with markets with my limited time over the next six weeks, and then I saw your new thread! I didn't want to clutter that thread with my note of appreciation, because I realize that it needs to stay as clean and focused on videos as possible. So I came back here to give you my most sincere thanks! {signs "from my heart"}:cool::cool:

The Week Ahead

Last Update: 03-Oct-08 08:26 ET

The coming week marks the start of the third quarter earnings reporting season with Dow component Alcoa (AA) on Tuesday followed by General Electric (GE) on Friday. Expectations are low for third quarter earnings, with Thomson Reuters currently predicting a 1.7% drop year-over-year, largely due to weakness in the financials. Thomson Reuters notes, however, that estimated growth for the remaining nine sectors would be 13.1% if financials were removed from the equation.

Some other names set to release their quarterly results next week include Safeway (SWY), YUM! Brands (YUM), Costco (COST) and Monsanto (MON). Briefing.com's Earnings Calendar has more information.

The Economic Calendar is light with only six reports. The FOMC will release the minutes from its Sept. 16 meeting on Tuesday.

A bevy of Fed officials are set to speak, including Fed Chairman Bernanke on Tuesday. The latest economic and credit market turmoil will remain in focus.

My YTD is screwed at this point. The IFT rules suck and I am going to write to FRTIB, GAO, and my Representatives. The advocated buy and hold and now people are poor for it. Greg Long and Tracy Ray should be fired along with ETAC and FRTIB.

This is the time to start screaming bloody murder. The angle is this, they took away our unlimited IFT and the scared me into "staying" in the market because I would be out of IFT. Now I'm getting kill. Sound good?

I want heads to roll.

They need to remove all restrictions.

I will hold and try to DCA my way out of this nightmare.
