Sensei's account talk

Sensei, so sorry to hear this news. Stay strong, have a positive attitude, pray and keep the faith that all will turn out for the best.

Thanks for sharing....we are a caring and loving bunch of misfits on this forum and we are always here for you. Keep us posted.

May God's love give you and your family peace.

Aloha, Kathy

Sensei, I just stopped by the real world on my way to logging out after posting more nonsense in *politics. I am very glad I did.

Your internal debate about posting here is a natural thing. In my opinion, though this is primarily a site for TSP investments, it has evolved over the years in to a family, members both good and bad depending your personal views. (*politics for example)

I cannot even begin to imagine how I would feel or handle things in your current situation. It looks as if you are being strong, united with the family and moving forward.

Please keep us up to date with whatever information you choose to share. No matter what it’s original purpose, TSPTalk is a family and we do try to support each other.

All my best to you

PO

Hello Sensei, I will keep your wife, you and your family in my prayers. So many advances in cancer, there are plenty of reasons to keep the faith and hope. I pray God will strengthen you both and bless you with His peace.

To echo what others have said, our prayers are with you and your wife. Puts a lot of things in perspective and I'm sure you will be just what your wife needs to be able to overcome this.

Take good care...

...I asked the Grand-Niece (she graduated last Wednesday !) to add you to her prayer list...trust me, she takes the rare requests she gets from her "heathen" Great-Uncle seriously, so rest assured you'll have people, you NOR I will ever meet, praying for you :)

Keep us posted...

...and here's what she emailed back :

"You've got it ! The fact I graduated from college is proof that God still works miracles so cancer is no big problem to Him either. =) "

Wow, has it really been a month since I've posted to my account thread? Yes, yes it has. Here's why...

About a month ago, my wife found a lump on her breast. Went to the doctor, long story short, she has breast cancer. Stage 1. We've been through the tears, the fear, the panic, the depression. Then we learned more about it, heard survivors' stories, took a deep breath, and realized it will be all right. She'll have a lumpectomy in June, send it off to the US for analysis, and then determine the need for chemotherapy. Hopefully there will be none.

So, this Mother's Day was extra special for us. Let's try to make every day Mother's Day. I haven't paid much attention to the stock market. Whatever will be will be.

I debated over whether I should post this here. I've never met any of you, but some of you have been very helpful and supportive in many ways. The outpouring of support for Showme was fantastic. I'm not looking for sympathy or attention. Just a little reassurance. Sometimes it's better to share what's gnawing at you than to keep it bottled up inside.

I hope all is well with you and yours.

Sensei

My prayers for the quickest and least painfull recovery for your wife. Best of luck. Sounds like you are doing great as her support.

Hoping for a speedy recovery. Don't forget your first line of defense -- vitamin D3 (1000 IU) -- for the immune system. Also try to incorporate cancer fighting foods. Google turmeric...more effective when taken with extra virgin oil because it's oil soluble. I use 1 tsp of turmeric, 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil (from Trader Joe's), and 1/8 tsp of black pepper (helps in absorption of turmeric). I mix it in with my concoction of green tea, 1 tbsp coffee, 1 tbsp Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1 tbsp honey. I drink half a glass in the morning, and the rest at night.

waaa...no apple cider vinegar

waaa...no apple cider vinegar

I actually tried that, but got tired of taking it. It's called Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar. The raw and unprocessed vinegar is cloudy in appearance, but contains a lot of good in it...potassium, amino acids, etc. :D

Raw unprocessed apple cider vinegar works wonders for cholesterol. My Dad did really well with that. :)

Yeah, I think it's main power is that alkalizes the body, making it less friendly to disease, etc...or so the theory goes.

Don't understand how Ebb got tired of taking it when he takes all that other stuff. Mix a little with tea and truvia/stevia/honey...good to go.

I ran into one of my students in the school library today. Her mother has a very advanced stage of cancer, but this girl is a pillar of strength - not afraid to look you in the eye and speak matter of factly about it. I was asking her how things were going, and decided to let her know about my wife's breast cancer. Without a thought, she took off her bracelet and gave it to me.

What an amazing kid. A beautiful reminder of why I do what I do.

I've lost a lot of family to this scumbag cancer curse. A positive attitude surely effects outcome. My best wishes to you and your Wife.

My problems seem so trivial when I hear stories like this.

I've had many wonderful teachers that had a tremendous impact on my life. I either failed or did not have the opportunity to go back and tell them. This student is but one. I am sure there are tens of thousands more that have had their lives enriched not only by your teaching but by your words of advice and encouragement.

Keep doing what you're doing.

I will be praying for your wife and for your student's mom, and for the families affected by this.

Been a while since I posted about the market and my TSP. I've been parked in the S fund for quite a while now. Seasonality looks good through this week. The herd looks split pretty evenly between stocks and cash/bonds right now. The Nikkei is up sharply at the moment, so hopefully we'll see the S fund start playing a little catch up.

It seems like the last couple years we've seen traders try to front run the "sell in May" theory, and stocks have dipped in April, only to come back in May and June. Watching and waiting for now. GL.

Glad to see you posting Sensei. I continue to keep your wife and you in my prayers.

I'd have thought that the tepid action in the U.S. and European markets would bring the Nikkei back down to earth, but it's up over .8% again right now. Give me some follow through S fund!

Sensei, I have not been on the site much neither... busy with graduations etc... but I miss you... so I came to your site... I am very sorry to hear about your Family... My Prayers and Best Wishes be with you. In my planet with take a lot shark cartilage against cancer... you may read about it... I am sending a Prayer for the Grace to Age Well which wrote Teilhard de Chardin, my forever Friend: “When the signs of age begin to mark my body (and still more when they touch my mind);when the illness that is to diminish me or carry me off strikes from without or is born within me; when the painful moment comes to which I suddenly awaken to the fact that I am growing ill or growing old; and above all at the last moment when I feel I am losing hold of myself and am absolutely passive within the hands of the great unknown forces that have formed me; in all these dark moments, O God, grant that I may understand that it is you (provided only my faith is strong enough) who are painfully parting the fibers of my being in order to penetrate to the very marrow of my substance and bear me away within yourself.” Teilhard de Chardin, The Divine MIlieu ..... I am getting out of the S - Fund tomorrow.. I expect a correction due we R moving into the Full Moon.

I came very close to jumping off the train, but decided to ride it out to its conclusion. The W4500 is extended beyond the upper BB, but has yet to make a new high. I'd like to think it will make a new high before pulling back. Bullish sentiment appears to be rising, but the herd was still split fairly evenly between stocks and bonds/cash yesterday. I'm looking for the scales to tip a little more toward stocks before stepping aside.
