I guess the current residents didn't have a "whole house inspection" done before buying?

It is possible that 30+ years of eating "military grade rations" may have caused him to start shouting. So many questions. Where did he poop? No one smelled anything? No one ever noticed the basement was smaller than the house? Screwy News indeed.

My guess was that he would exit the secret area when possible; when the house was otherwise unoccupied. I also assume the family somehow, suddenly blocked his egress, hence, the panic and shouting.
