RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

my ex wife is a teacher...I know how overrated they are...dime a dozen...theres a reason why most of them get paid what they do...don't let them fool you...they work half the year and still complain about how much they work...my ex wife is a teacher...f her

You have GOT to be kidding... Please tell me you are joking?

Teachers deal with students, parents, faculty, other teachers, and unions just to educate a kid.

Congress doesn't deal with unions, parents, other congress(insert pc term here),
and definitely no kids.

The only difference is that teachers are at the mercy of whatever tax monies are available to the budget and Congress cares less what they bring in.

You remind me of my saying:
There are those who say the glass is half full,
There are those who say the glass is half empty,
And you my friend say, "Who stole half my glass?" - Get it?

Sounds like a personal problem. Divorce is a nasty business. But dont take it out on others. Ill be glad to have a reasonable discussion on teachers. Most are awesome caring folks. Those that disparage them should be ashamed. If its so easy go try it and then we'll talk.

you get paid for what you are worth...free market capitalism...I know some of you despise that...RMI...i would have much rather Lebron and other overpaid(as you would say) people in Newton and in Colorado...things might have turned out differently

who better than someone married to a teacher to discuss what a teacher deals with...I know all that they do firsthand

I would love to be a teacher and reverse all the liberal indoctrination that has been going on for 50years...

How do you monetize the value of educated children, who become educated responsible, contributing adults? Teacher pay doesn't remotely reflect market value. That IS the problem. Most everyone out there making loads of dough had a team of teachers teaching them as a child. If you want someone like Lebron teaching kids you have to place a higher value on education. Obviously Lebron makes more money doing other things, thus, not a teacher. Sure, there are plenty of lousy teachers too, just like any profession. Sorry your opinion is so influenced by one or some of them.

So...why don't you become a teacher then...since you think they have is so good AND you would "love" to be one. Go for it! Chase that dream!

I look at the societal rot gut that has been going on for decades now...teachers,like you say, have a great role in that...I know parents are more responsible than teachers for that...but I lump in all the liberal yahoos out there including teachers and parents...it's an uphill fight for us conservatives trying to de-brainwash our kids...home schooling...pardon me for swearing...is the way to go...i would want my future wife/girlfriend to stay at home barefoot and in the kitchen raising and teaching while I work...times were better back then and everybody knows it but too scared to say it... wouldn't be pc

My very conservative, Jesus loving, gun toting, wife would disagree with you... You are painting with a VERY broad brush... do you live in CA or NYC?

Appreciate you stopping by, but it looks like I will be going to cash before the close. The bulls have managed to get back over the 50 MA and there isn't anything (even that semi-humorous link you provided) that shows of future weakness...

I will be reviewing my options to see what I will be doing in a couple weeks...

I think, over the last 2 years, that I do not have what it takes to trade and therefore will probably just put everything in C and DCA into it... BT must be right...

My first margin call will come after closing today, so its time to break into the emergency fund... not sure how I am going to explain that one to the wife...
