RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

Well, what a day (better yet, 24 hours)...

Last night I spilled water on my laptop and am currently trying to dry it out over the hotel room heater (glad I am somewhere cold)...
I was able to get on to an unclassified computer today before noon so I went ahead and plunged into S fund 100%... Made a little money going to F last week, but I am out of IFTs now :(
Finally found the hotel had computers I can use, so I might be in the business center more than I want  (with 12-13 hour shifts, maybe not that much)...

I guess I will see how well the NEX warranty program is now. Well, I should have better things to do, but I did want to post my OCD, but that isn't going to happen until I get my computer back... Maybe God is telling me something... Time to focus on something more important?

Besides, per BT and JJ, I should be good for the rest of the year in the S-Fund.

Your computer manual should have said to keep liquids away from it. You must not have read it.:D

Figures, I decide to get into S fund and the market gets all weak knees on me...

I am the ultimate contrarian indicator!!!

We'll see how the day ends :notrust:

Ok...you don't get in when we all tell you to get in but you get in when we are close to getting out? I'm hurt!

Some of us have evolved and adapted over the years to enjoying a little pain - it's a learned type of experience. RMI will learn to build his endurance.

Well you did over pay for the S fund.
Really... If you are going to say things like this, please stay away. In your mind, anything over the price you paid when TSP started is over paying. Good Bye.

Um, I don't see any post in the last few weeks when you said you were going to get out? Did I miss it? I have been on a lot of travel recently.

I think people are having fun with you because they like you, not just to pile onto your misery. I know it's rough for you right now - I remember how crappy I felt in summer of 2011 when I watched a 12% gain turn into a 10% loss. Things will turn around.

Taken in context, I don't agree. BT doesn't play games like that, he is and always will be direct. If he was truly playing with me, then he could have toned down the comment or added a smiley (although I don't know if he knows what those are).

With that said, I know the time you are talking about exactly because I was on the same roller coaster. I "hope" that it turns around, but my "faith" that it will is waning quite quickly. There are those on this forum that know exactly what I am talking about, and the more I think about it, I am sick

Keep up the running Brother, congrats on your success, and thanks for stopping by!

This is not directed at anyone in particular, but it seems like a lot of people like to brag when they are well ahead of the pack, yet when their accounts are not doing so well, you never hear from them.

Market Topping Theory:

nnuut always posts a lot

and

Birchtree only posts when the markets are up

and

Birchtree's 90 day post total is nearly exceeding nnuut's 90 day post total

therefore

Market must be topping because of all the BS
(Birchtree Sentiment) being spread around the TSPTalk forums...

Ken, maybe there is some truth to this?

Yeah I'm one of those. I'm doing OK this year, but I'm basically flat through this Secular Bear Market (2000 - Present). Maybe it will end someday soon like BT says, but the problem is those were my prime earning years and I'll never get those back. Just got to work longer and hope my health holds out. I think I'll be OK, but am concerned about leaving enough for the wife since we had an old fashion marriage where her retirement is completely dependent on me.

I think that's because people prefer to hear from winners instead of whinners like me. :embarrest:

RMI.

I certainly didn't mean to ruffel any clucker feathers - my apologies. I was just trying to tell you that you are now in danger of overpaying for the privilege of taking on more risk. This past week the small caps hit their highest levels on record. The R2K has passed peaks seen in 2007 and 2011 and was up 170% from its March 2009 lows. The problem is small caps are now overvalued on most measures relative to large caps and are likely to get hit harder in any downturn. Small caps have now outperformed large caps for nearly 14 years - the longest such period ever seen - excuse me while I kiss the sky. If the market follows history, this period of outperformance will be followed, sooner or later, by a reversal. Small-caps stocks still might be worth buying if they were inexpensive in relation to fundamentals. Investors who want to reduce their risk should cut their exposure to small-cap stocks. You would have less risk by buying the C fund in my humble opinion - but then again it's not my money so I guess I should just STFU. Snort.

That's right, we do. He could try on some lululemon yoga pants and see it's not that bad - not that sheer.
