This is your warning, don't read this if you don't want to get angry...
Ok, I warned you...
Well, now that Sequester is here and it is getting real ugly in the Furlough thread, I thought I would put our government budget situation in real terms.
There are some here on the board who are all about more taxes and no spending cuts. Fine, if that is how you run your household budget... is it? What is your second and third job, or do you live on credit?

Do we have more people getting money from the government than putting money in?
Do I think the rich could pay more?
Do I think everyone could pay more?
Are you more likely to work hard in a business if you own stock in that business (aka skin in the game)?
Do you think we can spend less?
Do you think the government should get an automatic raise in spending every year?
Do you get an automatic raise in your pay every year?
Do you think we can spend more?
Does the national debt concern you? (BTW, we currently have NO debt limit)
Does the lack of a balanced budget concern you?
Heck, does the lack OF A BUDGET bother you?
Does the fact that more people are going to retire over the next 20 years then ever before concern you?
Does the fact that your children (and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, et al.) will have to pay more of their income to the government?
Do you know that President George W. Bush has been out of office for over 4 years?
Has Federal spending improved the economy?
Do you believe the stock market is a reflection of the economy?
Do you know that the Fed is in debt several trillion and "someone" will eventually have to pay that bill?
Do you truly understand just how big a trillion is? simply put, a million million, but if you want graphical evidence, look back a few posts in my thread...
Can we afford to pay for pre-K for every American child?
Our corporate tax rate is the highest in the world, how is that working for you?
Do you assume that raising taxes will NOT cause people/businesses to change what they do?
Do you believe that deficit spending is the new normal?
Do you oppose a balanced budget?
How much is too much debt?
At what point will the US be unable to pay the interest on the outstanding debt?
At what point will no one besides the Federal Reserve buy US debt?

“When you look at these numbers, you understand why we’re not collecting the revenue we need to support the spending we want,” said Mr. Bernstein, a senior fellow at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a liberal research group. “We’ve really gutted the system.”
If I don't have enough to go out to dinner, I eat dinner at home. I guess I could put it on my credit card, but I am paying 12% on my credit. What is the USG paying? about 2.5%?
My credit cards are maxed and the bank won't raise the limits... why? I can pay it, I promise.
You know, if you don't read all of this and get pissed off, then I don't understand.
I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't just be easier to file bankruptcy and squat in a vacant home or just in someone's house (remember
Pacific Heights?), "try" to find a job twice a week to get my unemployment check, become a transgender woman and "borrow" a kid so I can get WIC and/or TANF and/or SNAP and/or any others. I will need a "job" so I will probably become a professional protestor or a street beggar, using barter instead of Federal Reserve Notes.

Where did the American work ethic go? Where did the idea of growing up, getting married, having kids, buying a house, saving for retirement, and living a prosperous life go?
Party like its 1984
