RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

Thanks I hope my signature comes to fruition! As for trying to make the IFT decisions yourself, I've been there & made huge errors! Lost about 1/2 of my TSP balance during 08 down cycle in the "I". So until I can have more knowledge of how the markets move, I will be following the guidance of such plans as IT or the 10-day.

In one of my IRAs, I lost 80% in the .com crash and it still hasn't fully recovered with a buy and hold mentality. I figured if I could find a system to at least get me 10% APR then I would be happy. Anything higher would be icing on the cake. :cheesy:

I am still trying to figure out the diversification piece, but I think that is more inline with the buy and hold, not a market timing model. I don't know, still thinking...

Big chance taken as I am pretty sure if I waited until tomorrow, the 10-month modified SMA would tell me to bail to F since S will probably lose more today.

Yup, with yesterdays prices, the method told me to move to F. Not sure if I made the right decision as only time will tell. I will compare the 2 options over time and see (just out of curiousity).

I don't seem to be doing so well in this environment.

I will hopefully continue to learn more; thanks to those that post so much valuable information.

Got a little spank from big Daddy Tom and you run for cover? Welcome to the real message board. lol :D Stick around, I might need a wing man. ;)

That's not it, I just didn't think it was fair that I was treated differently than the others who did the same thing. It was either (1) a misunderstanding or (2) a blatant case of favoritism.

I didn't run, I just feel we should all be treated fairly and I just found out where I stand.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW,
I might need a wing man
thanks !!

Ok, moved everything into G to rest until the first of the month to see what to do...

Modified 10 Month SMA would have put me in F had I not put it all in S the day before, so now I figure I would put it somewhere safe until the next check on April 1st (probably 100%S). :D

I am trying to figure out the TA so that I can at least understand WHY people do what they do with their TSP. I also would love to base all of my decisions on TA so I can take the emotion out of it... :worried:

TOO MUCH VESTED IN SUCCESS

Oh, well.

In my IRA:
- Added to my Citi holdings
- Added to my Sirius-XM holdings
- Added Luby's to my holdings
- Started REIT holdings with Annaly Capital Management

Good luck everyone and have a great week-end !!!

Luby's - that means they now have two shareholders. I wonder what the possibility of an Arby's takeover would be - that's plenty of infrastructure available for a Luby's expansion.

Wow, looking at their current outstanding shares, you must have about 28.11 million shares in YOUR portfolio... ;)

Well. I liked the news and write up on them, so I guess I figured why not

Mind sharing your reason for buying SIRI? Good news? I bought it in 2004 and currently have a $1,250 unrealized loss. Dropped big time.

It's a fairly recent acquisition, so I have an unrealized gain on it right now as I originally bought it below $1. Nothing specific, but the recent lawsuit from Howard Stern does give me a little concern, but I think it will come to a amiable resolution soon. It's a medium term hold for me.

Thanks. Too bad it's in my ROTH.

Mines in an IRA and I have time, so who knows... :D

If I am going to play short term stuff, I try to find ones I am interested AND have a lot of volume... but I don't find a lot of them. CITI was an accident that worked out and it has been good to me. Missed out of F when it was <$2 :(

So, moving to G was a bone-head move as I think I have lost out on nearly a 2% gain. I wish I could explain why I did it... :worried:

So, now I am just waiting to get back into S to make some more gains and quit being a chicken

Non-TSP:
Sold LUB, not enough movement and I decided it wasn't for me.
Added more Citi, waiting for the 10-1 "unsplit", buy back, and dividends (1 cent, yeah)
Sitting now waiting on dividends on NLY since the price dropped the day after I bought it... oh well

So, I guess at this point it is IFT on Friday to 100% S :suspicious:
