RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

Hey, I started March 2009, 6 months after into being hired civil service. Could kick myself for not investing while I was on active duty. Heard of it but never had anyone put any information out. I didn't know much about investing back then.

Now I wish I had more money to dump into it. I've been contributing 12% and it's multiplying quite nicely with earnings and employer match. Should be able to pass Birch :laugh::rolleyes:.......not.

I just noticed that 2 in the top ten have only processed 2 IFTs YTD. Hmmm....More money with less headache? Something to look at for sure. ;)

Yeah, I was noticing the #1 person was in and out of the market at perfect times...

Almost 18% in 4 months... dang :nuts::embarrest::sick:

It's a fairly recent acquisition, so I have an unrealized gain on it right now as I originally bought it below $1. Nothing specific, but the recent lawsuit from Howard Stern does give me a little concern, but I think it will come to a amiable resolution soon. It's a medium term hold for me.

So, my goal was $2 for SIRI since I had bought it at $1 (added a little at 1.35 and 1.67) but I wonder if I should hold it, or sell it for a realized gain of 49%...

Anyone have any insight into SIRI? Just curious...

Realized gains is your only way to profit when there are no splits or Dividends.
I guess it depends on where they are headed or you believe they are headed.
You took a shot, to this point it netted you 49%. What was your goal, to use it as a potential income stream or pump and dump. Keep to whatever your goal was. IMHO

So, SIRI has tested $2 twice now but hasn't closed above... looks like today it might. Let's see if it does, then shoots up even more. I am going to hold this for now just to see what happens. Good earnings reports and improved subscriber numbers all sound good for it's stock price.

Citi is driving me nuts...

down... Split already, lets get the institutional investers involved...

I think SIRI is good for day traders.

BTW, I think your G fund is going to pass me up on the tracker today. LOL

We'll more than likely see a nice rebound over the remaining three investing days - G funders won't participate in those gains.

Well, if the prices hold, I may pass up some of the S funders by default. I am losing less then they are and then the G funders will pass me up.

yeah, it's been bloody... but I still wish I could have gotten some of that nearly 3% gain in S after I bailed to G... my timing sucks... see you on the Tracker :D

TSP:
Still sitting in G waiting to find a good entry point into S

IRA:
Reduced - NLY
Added - CIM,O,LVLT
Increased - USMIX(S Fund equivalent)

Small numbers, but trying to diversify my REIT holdings so everything isn't in on REIT.

I have now learned that I don't have to buy 100 shares of a stock, so on my next stock move, I may diversify more into stocks since I don't need so much money for each stock.

I have also moved some of my savings into the USMIX to follow small cap gains. Still trying to find a decent USAA bond fund as a converse to USMIX.

Was emailed this a few weeks ago and found it while cleaning out my inbox.

Today would be a good buy-in, but I am feeling it isn't the worst... it might go lower... :worried:

Seems stocks do what they want without notice sometimes. I didnt see this big of a loss coming but I guess you win some and lose some. If what everyone says about May is true I don't know why anyone would be looking to get in. Only reason I'm in is because I was trying to regain my losses before I got out. Unfortunately today has stopped that from happening.
