rangerray's Account Talk

I like your thinking. Don't fight the Fed might be the most successful trading philosophy.

I moved my little 20% in S Fund to G today. I'm 100% G Fund as of COB. I'm determined to hold a positive return.

.36% or better for the year looks good to me at the moment :D

The Fed doesn't want to see a market rally, IMO, so, sell the rally they say.

The FED can't care about 'the market'.
They are paid to care about the value of your money.

If there is inflation outside the margin they will initiate deflation to bring it back in line. If the Federal Gubmint initiats policies that are inflationary, then the FED will implement policies that are deflationary. Someone should tell the CongressCritters and the Administration the well known maxim you quoted: "Don't fight the FED!!!". I think the FED is a bit tired of priming the pump when the Treasury is busy borrowing money to toss into the crowds.

Simple:D

Looking for a little reversal after the holiday? Allocation change: (G 80%) (C 5%) (S 10%) (I 5%)

I'm not too enthusiastic about this either.

I guess I dodged a bullet. I would have lost on my latest little gamble if I hadn’t of gotten out yesterday.

I sure am tired of not knowing.

I figured there’d be some good opportunities in S Fund this year and I’m sitting on go, but this current rally was so fast and furious that, after it began, I felt I needed to wait for confirmation.

Now that I believe in it, it feels like it’s too late and I don’t feel comfortable chasing.

So, I sit in G.

After this mornings open, I’m glad I left 20% C, 20% S in play yesterday, but dang, that “flash crash” spooked me. I don’t have any confidence in guessing where this market goes.

It looks like, at least for the C Fund, a safe strategy might have been to stay allocated as long as it’s above the 20 day EMA (green line).

Shouldn’t it be that simple? Well, it’s not for me apparently.

Drop me your ladder, you took gains off the table on the 6th highest close over the past 67 years....

What an open! Congratulations to everyone that was positioned to benefit and I hope it holds. I’m playing “wait and see.”

Tempted to get out and take the profit. My luck everyone else will take the profit and it will close in the red. :1244:

I know what you mean. And I suppose this effect is somewhat exaggerated now that I’m retired, but with all of the volatility of late, it seems like any move I make between funds is really bold; the emotions involved are amped up.

I’m moving some into C & S, and it seems like the worst time to buy, but the market just keeps running away.

40 S
20 C
40 G
