We were at Costco looking at the 40" Sony LCD HDTV. $1650.00. I wanted it bad for the kitchen to replace the 20" t.v.

Kitchen is pretty big. Would look great on the far wall.

She said no. I was like crap. This sucks. This was at 1:00 p.m. We Christmas shopped all day.

I said to her I'll bet your wrong on the fed funds rate cut .25% Vs .50%. She again said no she was right. I said I bet you I'm right and we get the T.V. and if your right we will go to Zales and buy you a tennis bracelet for the same value. I was scared as Hell to hear about it on WTOP at 2:20p.m.

Now we have a nice new Sony 1080P t.v. under the tree. I shxt you not.

It was a crazy day. Christmas shopping all day long. I yearned to be at my computer battling and She knew it. But I played it calm and collective.

If I could have been at the computer I probably would not have changed my contribution. Obviously this market could have went the other way on a .50% rate cut.

I won and yes I am super happy. :D

I've been look'n at the 40" for my kitchen too! Gotta work on my wife some more.

LOL...

I got the premium set (SONY). Phillips, Vizeo, Samsung at Costco all look

pretty good and are much cheaper but Read between the fine lines of

what your are getting. Check it out.

The only stipulation my Wife gave me after the bet was to put it under

tree until Christmas.

That was o.k. by me. :D

This is what I got. SONY KDL-40VL130

I have completed Day1 of a 3 Day Christmas Shopping Spree.

Day1 Went great if you read my earlier post.
Comments about Day1 economically - We went to Staples, Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, Zales, JC-Penny, Sear's, Back to Costco...

The whole time Wife and I kept commenting on how it does not feel like Christmas, No Volume, Weak Christmas advertisement.

We have done this three day routine for year's.

Immediately I see Gas Prices, Sub prime housing mess, personal friends getting laid off, effecting this market that I have not seen in year's.

I still see shorting this market the thing to do, even with the last 1000 point rally.

My Short term opinion is negative. What will be the next Catalyst.....

I honestly look at fundamentals then Technicals before I make a decision. :)

Hi Poolman,
After watching the charts and listening to his comment,I think he is still positive of the market but for very short term then it will be a pull back, plz correct if I am wrong, I still try to learn every day,I am thinking of getting out to G for Friday, all C,S are overbought, Griffin is still in,he is the big winner of last and this week, hard to go against him with his excellent analysis.
Talk about sharing ...Many thanks Poolman for daily posting so all of us can learn together.

No Problem Zimmy, Griffin is usually right. To me though I have a very

fundamental approach to the market's. I'm out and about all the time. I

hear and feel what's going on. I talk to up to 10 different people a day

that are not goverment employee's. People with 2 million dollar homes.

Drastically different from my means of life and my wife and I's income

level. It is tough out here right now.

I was out with the Wife shopping all day today and will be tomorrow

and the same thing as I posted earlier. The stores are empty in

comparison to last year and previous year's at this time of year. This

has been going on for the last 6 months. When people are not shopping

at Christmas that should tell you something. The Market's can do some

wacky thing's but all in all I don't see how it is going to avoid what is

coming. Sentiment changed when the FOMC made there decision. I think

we got our Christmas rally over the last 2 weeks. If we get anything it will

be pure B.S. to prop up the Bonus's for the Big Boy's. Ask yourself, What

will be the next catalyst to bring this market up. Earnings ? Right.....

Risk / Reward - To me is way to risky.. I'm willing to risk missing a couple

hundred point move higher because I feel we are ready for a tumble.

Of course with the Fed injecting Cash and making deals with

Bank's thing's get mended rather quickly for a day or two. We have some

serious messes on our hands. I'm playing the market's as best I can right

now. Be Careful. Don't go all in unless you are pretty sure that it is a

Sure Shot. Try to be comfortable playing also. Watch your Stress Levels.

I'm one to talk but I'm working on that too. :)

Well, Off I go on our last Big day of Christmas shopping.

I will be listening to wtop and trying to get a read on the economy. I usually ask employees in the stores how are sales.

I will probably go to the G - Fund today and get the Free penny. I don't know yet. :)

The G fund paid Monday and will not pay again until next Monday.

We experienced the same, stores were not crowded as last year, even Walmart/Sam,I went to Michael and Fabric warehouse close to our house, they were closed,I warched Kudkow CNBC keep saying the economic is not as bad but the the sub prime problem is worse than it looks,if I am not wrong, S fund is composed of banking,tech...it might be affected for few months till things look better.
BTW the penny will pay this Friday or Monday, anybody knows?? TIA:blink:

Just checking in. We had to go to the vet first. We are putting our 14 1/2 year old lab down Dec 27. His hip are just gone. It sucks.

I'm headed back out. It looks like presskh Say's the penny will pay Monday. 350Z usually is dead accurate on this.

It is a tough call on what to do. I may stay my position. I don't know yet.

I'll be listening to the news as much as possible. Good thing is all stores are within a 6 mile radius so I can shoot back to my computer if I think I need to.

The G Fund will pay next Monday.

The "following" first Tuesday is Christmas, so would it be Monday, and then the following two Wednesdays?

Sorry, my bad - I misread my own spreadsheet! The G fund will pay out next Monday (12/17). The most likely next payout day is Wednesday (12/26), although there is a reasonable chance it could pay out on Monday (12/24). The following week, the payout should be on Wednesday (2/2/08).

The reason for some questions between payout days is due to decimal point differences between mine and the TSP calcs. My EXCEL program calculates the changes to more decimal points than the TSP (I think theirs is 10 decimal points), but I never have known exactly what their calcs show on a given date to baseline my calcs. I assume that we do not get the penny until COB on the day that we actually meet or exceed an even penny increment. However, any time the daily payouts accumulate to within 9/10ths of the next penny, I assume that differences in the calcs could result in an earlier payout than my spreadsheet predicts. This is the case on Monday, the 24th.
