I didn't find anything extremely negative or radical about the guy. I wish I could find his legal name so I could dig a little deeper, and when I have the time I'll work on it. To clarify my earlier post, many of the references I posted were not detrimental towards manoftruth's character. For example, his religious affiliation with the Mormon faith is fine by me, as long as I don't find evidence of him being one of the extremist variety associated with some of the "cults" found in Utah. I personally have a couple of Mormon friends who I respect and trust more than a lot of other people I know. His support for Ron Paul is another thing that doesn't not bother me. So far, I haven't found anything about Paul that I could criticize either, and he would probably be my second choice of the other candidates. Personally, I don't think his chances for winning are very good right now, but that could change.
There are a few things that do bother me about "manoftruth". I sense that his personal philosophy "may" be biased, being based on things such as the Nostradamus Prophecies, which I personally think is bunk. I am probably also
unfairly stereotyping him with some radical groups that come to my mind, as first impressions when I watch his clips. (For example-)Over 40 years ago, a large group of "hippies" rolled into the small town where I grew up, driving big, yellow school buses with hand-painted flowers all over them. To say the least, they were not accepted into town with open arms, and most people were afraid to even talk to them. The hippies soon moved on, just 20 miles further east to an even smaller town named Summertown. They bought a pretty large track of land there, near the outskirts of town and soon Middle Tennessee had their first "commune", later called, "The Farm", lead by a guy named Steven Gaskin from California. In a few days, Gaskin went in to the local farm implement store and told them he needed to buy a tractor and a few other expensive items so his group could start farming their land. You'll have to visualize Gaskin's appearance in order to understand the storekeepers reactions. He was barefooted and was wearing a pair of brand new overalls with no shirt. He wore a big straw hat and his long, braided pigtails hung down his back to his waist, and his beard made him a dead-ringer for one of the guys in the ZZ top band. The story goes, that after Gaskin had picked out what he needed, he wrote the store clerk a check for the amount of his purchase and handed it to him. I don't know the exact amount of the check, but tractors ain't cheap and he was buying more than one. The clerk took the check to the store owner, and the owner called the California bank to verify the account. The bank told the store owner that as long as the amount of the check was under $3 million, it was good. The point of this true story is: too bad about my problem with judging people based on what they look like. Even though I should know better by now, I still deal with this type-casting problem, but I try not to let my first impressions keep me from giving people the benefit of the doubt, until I learn more about them. Just call me suspicious.
Other things I would like to learn about manoftruth are basic things such as, what does he do for a living? I don't think those videos on youtube pay very much. Since he claims to have received his education from Brigham Young and Harvard, money has not been much of a problem for him. The videos seem to imply that he does quite a bit of traveling around, so he seems to have plenty of free time on his hands. I guess he could be good enough with his investments to support himself that way, but I don't know if that's the case. He could be the product of some old money and never have worked a day in his life, but I don't know that either. Bottom line is that I don't know enough about him to rely on his very pessimistic outlook for the economy, and until I know more than what we know now, I won't be changing my investment strategy on his say-so.
Hope the little story wasn't too long and boring. Hell, Steadygain does it all the time, so I thought I would join the club.
