Pay Freeze Announcement

My opinion is that this happens because the average American doesn't realize how vital our work is. Joe America thinks we're overpaid

ummmm ma sherie -- your words are music to my ears....

The Average American has no idea how much our Government has grown over the years -- from one Administration to the next.

In 2004 -- The Top Level alone - with every variation imaginable for 'principal' - 'deputy' - 'associate' - 'assistant' - 'chief' had grown to 64 shades of occupants all subject to Senate Confirmation.

This my darling sweet has grown bigger and bigger -- and they are hugely 'overpaid' and 'unneccessary'. We don't need 64 (+) TOP Executives to filter information. Basically you simply have One Boss - Approving another. Oh and this is for every little and seperate Department.

Reduction of Government means the 'lower-level workers' are eliminated while the 'mid-levels' rise.

We are hugely 'overpaid' -- and the ENTIRE SYSTEM is grounded in automatic 'raises' and 'increases' and GUARANTEED SECURITY regardless of how thoroughly you learn the art of 'Passing the Buck' and doing less and less. It is a system that largely rewards 'lazziness' and motivates all to dump on the few that are willing to 'work for a living'.

Joe American has no clue how extensive the waste is and how grossly overpaid they honestly are -- especially in light of the 'QUALITY' of the work they do - and the 'Quanity' of real work that is done.

Shall we dance --

It was a long time ago, but I remember the last time that the Republicans 'retook' Congress. First there was a pay freeze. Then there was a hiring freeze. Then came the downsizing. Downsizing is such a nice word for such an ugly process.:(

My opinion is that this happens because the average American doesn't realize how vital our work is. Joe America thinks we're overpaid paperclip counters who got our jobs because we're all the brothers-in-law of a senator somewhere and so we're just sucking up his tax dollars.
No truer words could be said..Thank you..

Over the past few years under the FERs new hire program I was witnessing..the caliber and trade skills of the new hires was at an all time low caliber..People we use to get at the higher pay, went elsewhere.

We are losing two law-enforcement rangers, out of three. We will hire 1. We are already short on coverage and not able to effectively keep our grounds secure. This year our maintenance costs have soared due to an increase in vandalism and the costs of repairs. So we save money by cutting a salary but spend twice that on maintenance because we have no one to cover night shifts. Not to mention other problems stemming from the homeless taking up residency. That makes perfect sense.

Adventurer,
It's a real honor having you as part of our group and YOU and the law enforcement rangers are very important --- in fact what you (and those of your kind do) is beyond the credit I could honestly describe.

IF - Government would eliminate the absolute BS and redunant positions at the TOP and filling the Middle -- they would have tons of money to cover the 'real essentials'.

The increase in vandalism is a reflection of our society -- and in all seriousness a part that is foreign to me. My family (and the families of many on this MB) are largely grounded in very strong morals and principals. Family ties are enormous and the people we associate with are largely the same. Then you have the fatherless and growing numbers who lack the grounding and 'vandalism' is recreation to them.

It's BECAUSE - They don't have enough balls to set the Priorities where they need to be. They would rather let thing fall to ruin than have to deal with Senate approved positions -- and Presidential appointees -- even though they are entirely meaningless.

I'm with ya Brother -- totally.

Desperate times, spawn desperate people..

And the boarderline criminals that were once working at least keeping the habit supplied or even the family guy with too many mouths to feed and to keep a roof over their head...will more than likely head down to mr. middle class neighborhood and rip them off...which leads to insurance claims and then increased insurance premiums and added security systems, all costs of living in these times we don't need.

Just as long as this doesnt turn into a hiring freeze. I was just told Obama signed something stating 5500+ vets will be hired into the federal syatem in the next 2 years. Dunno what law enforcement rangers Adventurer is referring to....fed jobs are limited as it is ....I dont wanna be on the sidelines waiting for open source postings.

I just barely made it under the wire of the mid-1990 hiring freeze. Was a student coop ed, about to convert to PFT status. cleared the shutoff date by about a month. good luck to those waiting in the wings, I remember the tension and uncertainty well.

This is why I have always argued that a bloated government eventually hurts government employees. Instead of having the necessary positions fully staffed and funded, there will be cuts across the boards. That will leave the necessary positions underfunded and the unnecessary departments still bloated.

And a pay freeze would be easier to digest (I mean I'm not totally against it in a recession) if the other ridiculous spending wasn't still going on.

Well said

Thank ya Brothers !!!

Here's my latest thought on Saving even more money.

OK -- Pretend I'm the President :D

I would save hundreds of thousands of dollars by NOT going all over the world back and forth to a bunch of 'meetings' -- when I could send a representative for like $1,500 round trip - to take notes and fill me in.

I could increase Sports Revenue -- by changing the National Anthum (sp)

and strutting out in the Ballfield in Style to the new anthum ..... oh and of course I've got precious buns walkin' out with me ...

I was just a simple lad
Never knowing good from bad --

But I knew LIFE fore I left my nursery --- whooo yeah

Left alonnnnne with sweet fat Fannie
she was such an ornery Nannie --- ummmmmmm

Sweet big woman -- you made bad boy out of me !!! Ohhh yeah

Ahhhhhhhh won't you take me home tonight

PLEASE !!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhh --- ohhh yeahhhhh

Right beside that red fire light ----- (exaggerated expressions)

Ahhhhhh - ummmmmm Baby

Won't you give allll you got

Fat bottom girls --- youuuu make the rockin' world gooooo round

Now that's how to save some money -- and I'd get rid of most of the needless security -- and end the song with .....

waving my arms up in the air and shouting out -- hey kill me now and let me die happy --- or ahhhh I'll just keep coming back....

then I'd throw the first pitch :D:D

Yeah, that's what happens when Feds do more with less for so many years that we can now do everything with nothing.

Best line I've seen yet:

I've have to agree -- it is a very good line.

I think that's the biggest part of the problem 'Pay Freeze' has such a harsh sound -- I mean it sounds terrible.

Would have been night and day if he's done it different.....

He should have got 3 of the 'hottest singers around' -- I mean my gosh the women we have today compared to the orginal Supremes ....

Anyway have the center one -- put us in a daze just seeing her ...

and the other 2 making it even better......

STOP --- in the name of love

(line from the President - we need to stop spending and start saving)

Before you break my heart

(the future is heart breaking if we don't start now)

Think it Oooover

(consider this the time to act)

Haven't I been goood to you

(as Americans - all of us need to do our part)

Anyway change it to 'Stop in the name of Love' ;)

It's all in how you present things -- gosh --- make it good !!

I would think the hiring freeze will be next, and will be very high on the right-winger's list of "to-do's".
Reducing the federal workforce through attrition is one of the items in the proposal to be voted on today by the deficit commission created by Obama. That is bipartisan, *not* "right-winger".
