OPM 1099- R Tax Form Available

Sean, I think they mailed and also posted in Documents. Per their Chat Bot:
--All 1099-R forms will be received by applicable participants by January 31 of the following year and all 1042-S forms will be mailed to applicable participants by March 15.
--Both forms can be accessed electronically in the Secure Participant Mailbox mid-February.

I'm not sure why it takes the 2 weeks to make them available electronically??

evilanne has forgotten more about the subject of the TSP than I will ever know!

Thanks!!
I don't know about that Tom, never heard of IRS 1042-S before

Just got an email this morning from OPM saying my 2024 1099R is available.

Checking today online, OPM 1099- R Tax Form is Available. TSP is not yet.
Note: My mother got email saying they would not be sending out 1099-R but would be able to download electronically
My mother sold her house in December. Her email address on file with OPM was linked to her cable company who cancelled her account when she cancelled their service (She moved to Assisted Living). I cannot get into her OPM account. I have tried every way I know, or their website provides including email, to get it reset but she gets a message every time saying to fix it through the website (Catch-22 anyone?). I've called and called but get the same message about high call volume and to try my call again later. Her health benefits now exceed her meager survivor's annuity so she will have to pay some up front to continue her FEHB but we can't get them on the phone and as of yet have received nothing in the mail (address changed) to tell her how to deal with it. Fortunately the people that bought her house are cool and are looking out for something from OPM. She had her mail forwarded months ago to her new address but so far USPS has been hit or miss with that. Very frustrating.

@papahotel66 So sorry that is happening in your mother's situation. I was wondering how that may impact others like my mother in their 80's or 90's who are technologically challenged. It is difficult to get through to OPM and this is probably driving up the call volume.

Here is step by step guide OPM sent out last year by email https://www.opm.gov/support/retirement/faq/sol-login-linking-guide.pdf/ . It sounds like you need OPM CS#account and a valid email & phone number to sign up for Login.gov which may give you access to the account. I don't see anything that says it has to match what they have on file with OPM for LogIn.gov

In past I have done 3 way call with OPM to get things changed on my mother's account and I am sure I will have to retrieve her OPM 1099-R when I get ready to file her taxes. I like the idea of setting up the Login.gov because last time we asked for PIN for access, she misplaced it and she has never been able access.

Good Luck papahotel66!
