In Poland I pay just over $6 a gallon, but I only fill up about 4-6 times a year, I can take the Tram for almost everything around here.
In Texas, it seems like more than half the people are driving big trucks. Over here it's about 1%, but we do have a lot more utility type vans, and I've not seen a Mini-van in ages. Here's another interesting useless fact. We have almost zero auto parts stores here, like none. We don't even have those drive-in oil change places, you gotta make an appointment.

I bet you’d have customers lines up for miles.
They haven’t yet had the “do everything from your car” experience yet. It’s ready for advanced Capitalism. Hire some Ukrainian or Belarusian mechanics to do quick oil changes.

Yea I agree it would make for a good business.
But like you said the car culture here is not so strong. We do have a handful of Die-Hard folks who love to show off their vintage American cars. But aside from this, we have no shade-tree mechanic stuff going on anywhere.
