The Green River formation – an assemblage of more than 1,000 feet of sedimentary rocks that lie beneath parts of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, is estimated to contain up to 3 trillion barrels of oil – or an amount equal to the world's proven oil reserves. However, extracting these oil shale resources is expected to require substantial amounts of water and could impact groundwater and surface water.

API President and CEO Jack Gerard called the president's jobs plan a 'missed opportunity' and said the oil and natural gas industry could create more than a million new jobs for Americans and more revenue for our government with a few sensible changes in national energy policy.

New York RBOB gasoline futures have fallen .17 cents in the last two trading days. If it falls again today, we should have some big-time downward pressure on the price at the pump.
