SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Crude-oil futures overcame a weak start to settle above $82 a barrel Thursday, feeling the pinch of wobbly U.S. equities but protected by a weaker dollar.

I was waiting for the avatar change about now. It had come to my attention lately that the oil rig had been in place far longer than usual. :laugh:
 
too much politics in interest rates and too much fraud in mortgage finance leads to too much economics in prices of commodities. price of tea in China really does have something to do with something these days.

BP Profit Plunges on Another Spill Charge

BP Tuesday posted a 66.5% fall in net profit for the third quarter as it took another $7.66 billion pre-tax charge related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, although the company beat analysts' expectations on some key benchmarks.

Oil pushes toward $84 as dollar dips

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Crude-oil futures advanced more than 1% Tuesday, as the dollar dropped and investors embraced risk as the Federal Reserve started a key two-day meeting.
Crude for December delivery [CLZ10] gained 92 cents to $83.86 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. [more]
