Uh-oh!

The Keystone pipeline is shut down after 14000 barrels of oil spilled into a role Kansas creek near the border of Nebraska.

The pipeline carries about 600000 barrels of heavy tar sand oil a day from Canada all the way to the Texas Gulf coast experts say that type of oil can be really hard to clean up since it sinks and is highly toxic pipeline officials said the oil has been contained with booms and that segment of the pipeline was isolated.

The EPA said there's no affect on drinking water in the area and the oil hasn't moved into larger waterways the affected creek is also located on pasture land so no evacuations were ordered there's no timeline on restarting the pipeline yet and some experts say that could cause an increase in gas prices depending on how long it remained shut down.

I don't think this oil spill will affect gasoline prices. I sure hope not since all the stations around me are just below $3.00/gal.

So most of the gas stations close to me are at $2.97/gal. My one daughter lives about 10 miles from me and gas by her is $2.64/gal. Dang!!

Keystone Has Leaked More Oil Than Any Other Pipeline in US Since 2010

Source: Bloomberg

Last week’s oil spill in Kansas means that TC Energy Corp.’s Keystone pipeline has now leaked more crude oil than any other conduit on US land in the past 12 years.

The major line running from Canada into the US Midwest was shut after a spill of 14,000 barrels a day, with some of that crude released into a local waterway. The spill, in combination with several others in recent years, will mean that Keystone has leaked almost 26,000 barrels of crude on US land since 2010. That’s the most of any other pipeline during that period, according to preliminary spill data from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.

Other notable pipeline spills include Tesoro’s High Plains conduit that ruptured in 2013 and Enbridge Inc.’s Line 6B, which caused a massive oil leak in the Kalamazoo River in 2010, the data show. (The 2010 BP oil spill that spewed millions of barrels of crude took place after an offshore drill rig sank in the Gulf of Mexico.)

The Speedway around the corner from me was $3.37/gal when I went out to breakfast around 8:45am.
Did some grocery shopping and got the truck washed and when I passed the Speedway around 10:30 the new price was $3.59/gal. :aargh4:

Was out doing some errands today and the local gas stations around me had gas from $3.19 to $3.74/gallon. That's crazy.
