Looks like increasing fuel economy standards still has strong support, but continued tax cuts for oil companies does not.

That didn't take long.
It has been, started the moment the Administration put a strangle hold on Oil that has assisted in supporting it's agenda to increase prices. Now he's having a a sudden change of heart because the hand writing is on the wall and the election is drawing closer and closer, just stand back and watch him do an about face, it's easy when you have two.

Korea snags a piece of the U.S. oil patch

Commentary: Scouring the globe for scarce energy assets

By MarketWatch
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — The Korean National Oil Company is not a global oil company, but it wants to be. Getting there means staking out production rights wherever it can, including Texas.
That’s exactly what KNOC has done, confirming Wednesday it’s part of a consortium led by Apollo Global Management LLC +1.33% that’s buying $7.15 billion worth of oil and gas properties scattered across the Southwest. Read about the consortium.
The deal came about as part of Kinder Morgan Inc.’s +0.95% $21 billion acquisition of El Paso Corp.+0.96% . Kinder wants El Paso’s pipeline network and is selling off El Paso’s exploration and production assets to help pay for it. Those properties include the Eagle Shale oil field in south Texas, one of the hottest plays in the booming North American shale oil sector.
In a nation that talks incessantly about the need for energy independence, one might ask how a state-run South Korean company is allowed to horn in on U.S. oil production.
