Oil trades higher after U.S. stocks gain

Natural-gas futures turn positive after supply data

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Crude-oil futures found firmer footing Thursday as investors sifted through fresh data on U.S. jobless claims and equities gained.
Crude for September delivery /quotes/zigman/2075827 CL1U +1.07% advanced 90 cents, or 1.1%, to $83.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract traded as high as $84.45 and as low as $81.03 a barrel.

Oil futures tack on as much as $2 a barrel

Prices touch a high above $87, buoyed by strength in U.S. stocks

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Crude-oil futures climbed by as much as $2 a barrel Monday to follow a rally in U.S. stocks, finding support after declines of around 10% in the month to date despite data underscoring economic weakness.
