NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Crude-oil futures retreated Monday from recent gains, playing off China’s weekend interest-rate hike that sparked worry policy makers in Beijing might intensify efforts to curb the country’s economy.http://markets.usatoday.com/custom/...-11E0-9A9E-00212804637C}&loc=interstitialskip

With Obama, Media Silent on High Gas Prices

Pain At The Pump, Where’s The Media?
by Ron Futrell - BIG JOURNALISM - 12/13/2010

EXCERPT:
Of course, Obama’s reaction has been to close off-shore drilling and restrict more US land to drilling. The Bush actions of allowing more drilling and increasing US independence led to those low prices of 2008. Yes, policies in the White House can make a difference and are making a difference today to the rising prices.
Gas prices have nearly doubled under Barack Obama, meanwhile the media watches from the sidelines and complains without pointing out where this problem lies. Do you think they don’t know, or do you think they are protecting Dear Leader?

You said it - living insane when we could be pumping it out the ground right here in the good old USA.

Instead warp-minded "enviromentalists" insist we buy from Enemies Abroad.

Ethanol is NOT cheaper by a long shot! The Price of feed corn is driving meat prices higher and that includes prices of everything we buy that contains corn and corn syrup, Ethanol is just making it worse:nuts:
U.S. Ethanol Subsidies: A Bad Policy That Refuses to Die

by: Wall St. Cheat Sheet December 27, 2010

By Ed Dolan

U.S. corn farmers and ethanol distillers are among those celebrating passage of last week’s tax bill. A little-noticed provision of the law extends ethanol tax credits ($.45 per gallon, plus a bonus for small producers) and tariffs on ethanol imports ($.54 per gallon), previously set to expire at the end of 2010. Should the rest of us also celebrate? I think not.

JUST KEEP YO' CORN SQUEEZinS OUTTA my CARS!

Ed Dolan's data is wrong. His facts are wrong.
I agree it is obviously an under estimate of the actual cost of ETHANOL SUBSIDIES to the tax payer. Makes no sense to me!
Jim we all know you are a big advocate of ethanol it's just that the numbers are a clear warning that it's not workable and a big drag on the economy, just a payoff at our expense in the name of green energy and VOTES.

More ethanol in gasoline is risky
POLLUTION

October 20, 2010|By Nathanael Greene, Special to CNN

EXCERPT:
Here's the simple reality -- not all biofuels are created equal. Some reduce pollution, but some, like corn-based ethanol in particular, do more harm than good. When all direct and indirect impacts are factored in, corn ethanol production causes more global warming pollution than the oil it is meant to replace, contaminates our waterways and raises the price of food and feed in our stores.
