BP Turns to LMRP Cap Containment System
Sunday, May 30, 2010

BP started the "top kill" operations to stop the flow of oil from the MC252 well in the Gulf of Mexico at 1300 CDT on May 26, 2010.
The procedure was intended to stem the flow of oil and gas and ultimately kill the well by injecting heavy drilling fluids through the blow-out preventer on the seabed, down into the well.

1.gif

By Kate Gibson, MarketWatch

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures declined Tuesday, down nearly $2 a barrel in recent trades, as worries about Europe's debt troubles had investors seeking refuge in the U.S. dollar, helping push the euro to a four-year low.
Oil for July delivery fell $1.56, or 2.1%, to $72.42 a barrel on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract on Friday ended at $73.97 a barrel to cap the worst monthly performance for the most active contract since December 2008.

There is nothing that I can find to substantiate this article. They are still trying to cut the riser and lower another apparatus on top to vacuum the oil to a tanker?

BP DENIES RUMORS THAT IT'S ABORTING LATEST ATTEMPT TO PLUG LEAK

UPDATE: Reached by Business Insider, Coast Guard rep Elizabeth Bordelon denied rumors that it's discontinuing attempts to attach a new blowout preventer and stem the flow. Meanwhile, the AP is also reporting the same thing, that Thad Allen called the process ongoing. We hope to have a definitive adjudication shortly.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude futures ended lower Tuesday, in a volatile session where lingering concerns about global demand for energy outlasted bouts of optimism following positive U.S. macroeconomic data.
Oil for July delivery lost $1.39, or 1.9%, at $72.58 a barrel on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The barrel opened lower and later turned higher on reports showing improvements in manufacturing and housing construction, but these gains were short-lived. [more]

Crude reverses to gains; stocks, home sales provide boost

By Claudia Assis, MarketWatch & Nick Godt, MarketWatch

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures gained Wednesday as some of the concerns about global demand for energy and the world's economic recovery dissipated after a better-than-anticipated report on home sales and a recovery in U.S. stocks.
Crude oil for July delivery, the most active contract, rose 27 cents, or 0.3%, to $72.83 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Oil got a little boost from U.S. stocks moving modestly higher, as well as a rise in pending home sales index by 6% in April after an upwardly revised 7.1% increase in March.

Higher oil prices on the way:mad:

By Blake Ellis, staff reporterJune 3, 2010: 7:32 PM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- As oil demand jumps to fresh highs and supplies fall, crude prices are climbing and poised for further gains this summer, signaling that higher costs at the pump may also be on the way.
"The much higher demand lately is a sign that the economy is getting better," he said. "I think we're going to start seeing higher prices and a bull market over the next eight to 12 weeks and through the end of summer."
