Oil Slick Stuff

Another reason to go "FLEX-FUEL" capable.

Don't let them hold you "over a barrel".

When you are flex-fuel- you get a choice. gasoline OR ethanol.

By the way- E85 hasn't changed in price in last two weeks- it's still $1.81 near me. Much better deal than the $2.29 they are getting for that FOREIGN FUEL.
No argument form me JIM;)..Unfortunately, it is not financially prudent for me to sell my petrol burners and buy an Ethanoil burner yet..

This thread probably has already posted this report. If not, I would recommend you check it out. It’s an interesting report…:cool:

The Bakken Formation estimate is larger than all other current USGS oil assessments of the lower 48 states and is the largest "continuous" oil accumulation ever assessed by the USGS. A "continuous" oil accumulation means that the oil resource is dispersed throughout a geologic formation rather than existing as discrete, localized occurrences. The next largest "continuous" oil accumulation in the U.S. is in the Austin Chalk of Texas and Louisiana, with an undiscovered estimate of 1.0 billions of barrels of technically recoverable oil.

Yes it's there, there is no shortage of OIL!!!! Our Government has chosen to discourage development of new Oil resources to drive the price up in order to encourage the use of alternate energy to fuel our country. I am very unhappy to say they are trying to rush it and this is one thing that will take decades not just a few years. In the mean time our economy will suffer greatly, inflation will spike again as the cost of fuel spikes possibly to levels greater than 2008, while the additional TAX revenues will support the Administration's plan to Socialize our economic system and put us on level ground with France, Spain and other second rate countries.
Just how I feel about the situation and I really don't want to argue about it, just my opinion.
Have a good weekend, I'm getting ready for a BYOS (bring your own steak) Pool Party, it's gonna be good!!:D ahamock.gif

By Moming Zhou, MarketWatch & Nick Godt, MarketWatch

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures rose Friday for a third session, extending their weekly gain to more than 10% as a better-than-expected U.S. jobs report cemented recent optimism about an economic recovery and rising prospects for oil demand.
U.S. nonfarm payrolls fell by 539,000 last month, the Labor Department reported. Analysts on average had expected a decline of about 600,000. The unemployment rate rose to a 26-year high of 8.9%, in line with expectation.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Exxon Mobil says it has begun drilling at Alaska's Point Thomson oil and gas field.
Patrick McGinn, a company spokesman, says drilling operations were launched Friday.

In February, Exxon returned eight of its Point Thomson leases that were part of 13 added to the field in 2002. Exxon had promised to drill wells and begin producing oil within four years, but no drilling occurred.

Chavez seizes oil service firms

Mr Chavez is tightening his grip on the oil industry

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has sent troops to take over companies that provide services for the oil industry. "This is a revolutionary offensive," he told workers near Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela's main oil-producing area.
Military vehicles were used as the state oil company seized supply boats and two US-owned gas facilities.
Mr Chavez nationalised Venezuela's main oil assets two years ago. The fresh drive comes as falling oil prices put state finances under pressure.
The move places hundreds of boats, several ports and an estimated 8,000 oil workers under state control.

Uhh...I just have to know, is the lawn mower repair somehow related to the party?

On the rise in Peach Country this morning I passed the local Walmart and the Regular is now $2.159, big jump over the weekend. Dollar is weaker, it's the summer driving season, what else?
My area is at $2.03 to $2.15 at he GasBuddy site.:suspicious:

Do you think this Guy knows what he's talking about? $3.50 a gallon is nothing to spit at!!

Gas prices surge 9%: Don't fear $4

Prices at the pump are up 18 cents over the last 13 days but analysts say $4 a gallon is not in the cards.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- There's plenty of economic pain to go around these days because of the recession. Now there's this: Gas prices have surged nearly 9% over the past two weeks.
That's a gain of 18 cents during the past 13 days, and the national average hit $2.226 a gallon on Monday, according to a survey by motorist group AAA.
The good news: analysts say a return to last summer's record highs of $4 a gallon is not on the horizon. Indeed, while prices have been on a tear, they are still some 46% lower from the all-time high of $4.114 a gallon hit last July.

More than 60 new E85 stations in the last month. Nationally, now up to 2065.

http://e85prices.com

National E85 price is just $1.89, while gasoline has now topped $2.24 nationwide.

Time to switch, if you are driving a flex-fuel vehicle. Anything better than about 12% to 15% difference makes it more profitable to drive on ethanol. Some stations are now at 20% difference, depending on your location.

That's the beauty of not being dependent on foreign fuel, and being able to switch in a flex-fuel vehicle. No more $3.50/gas worries.

Now if we could just get more stations to convert over, we'd have some solutions going.

Guess I have to buy a new car, yep get rid of the 2004 4Runner with 30,000 miles on it and buy one of those Flex Fuel jobbers. I would like to but the $Runner has 3 more payments and I want to lick the sweet off of it for about 10 more years. When the wheels start falling off I guess I'll have to consider it? I think there are many of us in the same boat. I don't think I'd look good in one of those Corn Fed roller skates anyway.:D
I think you're right though, just not right for me.:o
