Now that your retired....

What will you do? I mean after all these years will you be ABLE to just "sit back and relax?" I like to think when I retire, it'll be on the lake with a fishing boat and I'll sit out on the dock in the mornings and drink coffee and watch the sun come up, followed by a day fishing/hunting/piddling in my woodshop....but alas...reality hits, and I wonder....will I be able to do "nothing"?......:suspicious:

P.S> I once heard a guy say he would spend his retirement money on "beer and hot young escorts"...."the rest" he said, he'd probably just waste on stupid stuff!!!! :nuts::blink::nuts:

I've been retired for almost 10 Months and don't regret it a bit. I've set my alarm clock one time sense I retired and that was because I had to wake up my daughter for an appointment. Plenty to do, no problem I don't miss work one bit!
I DO EXACTLY what I want to do, except for HoneyDos.:laugh:

I have never heard anyone who wished they worked longer. Most retirees seem to stay busy. I have several retired friends and they all say just about the same thing - "How did I find time to go to work?"

Now that I'm a house husband I'm up every morning at 0500 getting my wife's coffee going and I'm working harder now than when I worked for Sam. Now I have the time to be an aggressive investor and the money to be reckless with abandon on my way to making millions. Today I mowed the lawn, edged the yard, watered the corn and tomatoes and basically enjoyed being outdoors with great weather. Most people think once you retire you should concentrate on capital preservation - not me. I'm hell bent to get rich with this bull market now that I have time to do more homework - let the good times roll. My first law of finance is it takes money to make money. And all it takes is 30 years of disciplined time in grade to save up those coins - one advantage of age. Snort. Yes, capital appreciation is my mantra.

I've asked exactly that same question several times! Now that I'm retired I actually have the time to do my hour-long daily yoga practice, to make cookies with my grandchildren, to do my crochet work and my beading and .... well, you get the picture.

Most of my neighbors are retired too. And none of us are sitting around watching Oprah on the television all day. We're all too busy, but now we get to choose the things that keep us busy. Retirement is wonderful.

I couldn't see coming to work after 37 years and making $1.55 an hour more than being on retirement...After I retired, I went back to work a month later full time as a contractor, same pay..

You seem to me to be "materialistic" with your constant bragging about your "millions" and your (quote) "I'm hell bent to get rich " attitude. I hope I don't become like you, but stay content with the "small" things in life....I've found in my experience that those who do the most bragging are the poorest..and the quiet ones are the richest....:toung:

You'll change your tune as you grow older - trust me on that. No one will care if you remain poor in dollars and rich in love. Money provides flexibility not happiness. But I'll continue to try and buy myself into happiness. I worked many years to achieve my level of acumen and I'm not stopping now. Yes, I'm already a millionaire but that's hardly any money at all - make me the money so I can leave some behind to my heirs. I don't intend to be braggadocio I'm just spouting the facts and they are what they are.

Hey Fish it's not easy being me. Even at my age when I go grocery shopping the thirty-five year old females track me around the store - it must be my tight buns. Sometimes I don't shave for a week and I definitely look Italian - but still they track. It could simply be the phermones coming from my pits. There is something about Birchtree - firm of limb and quiet. Hell, I even use coupons but I always talk to the cutie at the cash register. Maybe they see me park the car or the Ducati. Nope, you're better off not being like me that's for sure - less temptation.
