North Korea shells South Korean Island

America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. – John Quincy Adams (1821)

How quickly we forget-or how long we never knew. Thanks for the history lesson, Nate.

That post was not intended as an indirect opinion. Being in the Army, I'd rather not publicly voice my opinions. Thanksgiving is a perfect day to reflect on our pioneers.

There are times when I wish, in reference to world opinion, we were more like Russia or China.

I wouldn't dare argue with you my friend -- I respect you immensely.

There are lots of details the American Public has NOT been allowed to digest and to honestly see the extent by which Japan was totally pushed to attack us -- even to the extent that their pilots had to come up with an effective plan of attacking us. We largely forced them to attack.

We planned 'a conflict' - and made it happen - in order to build the Panama Canal.

The CIA enacted numerous 'conflicts' in Iran -- all for the purpose of allowing GB and the USA to take their OIL for nothing and force them to be our slaves of cheap labor.

Look at the Corporations and Industries throughout numerous areas of the world and see how they have the power to take as much as they want and all the more how thousands of people had to flee their homes and how they have to live as a result. Then see where these Corporations are based.

Find the details of how Eisenhower worked hand in hand with the mafia and learn the total plans of taking over Cuba. When JFK had his FIRST meeting -- all the details were long in place and he began his Presidency by 'acknowledging the plan' and giving the OK.

The Vietnam Conflict was being prepared.

If we would have treated NK like the Russians treated Georgia during the South Ossetia and Abkhazia incident the world would have crapped themselves with condemnation. Russia moved so quickly most people can't even recall that happening.

'WE' are the reason SK is free.

There is a huge difference - however - and if someone came to our border they would be 'snuffed immediately'. We also like to show off the speed by which we can deal with things. Let's not forget that Iraq started with a 'Deck of Cards' and much was televised because we knew we could do it quickly and show off to everyone.

The American Population would crap themselves with condemantion if all the Government hid - was fully disclosed.

We drag $h!t out for eternity.

This is what I'm building up to - so Birch can know it was not God. That war was meant to be 'open-ended' - 'to show our resolve' as JFK put it.

Nixon wanted to 'nuke' a neighboring country --Cambodia -- and made it very clear he didn't care about 'the civilians'.

The point is -- it was designed to be dragged out for eternity.

Target the Leadership, every one of them, with every first generation outdated JDAM we own and be done with them. The world will cry, moan and complain but in a year nobody will remember except the historians. blah blah blah never happen Rant over.

Our only hope is to turn to God and back to the founding principals on which this country was grounded. History at this point is showing the USA is falling.

Steady if my memory serves me right I think our Fearless Leader  already tried a diplomatic strategy with Iran, and was told to stick it? It was another of his broken promises, remember.

So far he is the 'Ultimate' in wanting things 'HIDDEN' - and that could easily be my end. He's a dangerous dude.

I did my time - went from Regular Army to Special Forces. I am very proud to be a Veteran and I served as fully as I possibly could and am grateful for being able to serve to the capacity I did.

Don't let anything I say keep you from giving your all and giving your best. Everything I say --- ALL OF IT -- is meant to make the USA everything it was meant to be.

This is my way of fighting for our country -- but for me the first thing is dealing with those that already fought.

God Bless You my friend. Give it your all.

Norm,
The more I reflect back on this the funnier it gets. Thanks man !!!

and was told to stick it?

It's also funny how 'historic' the recent elections were :nuts:

That's what actually gives me 'Hope' - the People are waking up.

North Korean News Report on Incident - high on rhetoric; no one quite sure what it really means.

It means Ho Yo and Ding Dong are so caught up in themselves they absolutely have 'no clue' how extensively the rest of the world is totally aware of how terrible their entire population suffers and has suffered for many years.

It means Ho Yo -- who is now so old and in poor health that he fills his pants when he thinks he's just making a little fart -- and Ding Dong (in his 20s) looks like he'll be the international fart champion.

It means they both - seriously believe the rest of the entire world is going to be 'wooed by this BS' and think -- oh my -- look how powerful and mighty and brave these people are.

High on rhetoric means they made a 'mighty attempt' to look powerful YET we know North Korea is 'Blacked out' by satelitte images because they don't even have electricity.

High on rhetoric -- means 'brain washing' their people over and over telling them N.K. is like Heaven and the rest of the world craves to be like them when they are the only ones left living in a sewer. (sp)

High on rhetoric - means they talk like they have something when we The US of A - have Silverbird, Lady, Blue and Alevie..

It means they've got 'nothing' and we have 'everything'

Steady, thanks for the kind words and encouragement. As much as I would love to vent about the insanity of things, I will just say I agree.
I have to get this off my chest though.
Maybe NATO needs to learn how to put their "big boy panties" on themselves. Transition a percentage US foriegn military bases to joint military forces. This would include US personnel as we are members of NATO.

I just hope it doesn’t turn into a war because if it does, about the only option the North has is pulling out their Nuke card. I wonder if the USAF has their new 747 with that giant airborne laser up and running yet? If not, the USN needs to spool up some of those Aegis ships with anti-ballistic missiles. It might be time to put those science projects to the real test!!:blink:

Nothing to worry about there. They don't have missles that have the range to hit our mainland, except perhaps a longshot at hitting Alaska, and maybe - just maybe- the west coast. I don't think anything would really miss anything if Wasilla was taken out, now do you?

Bigger picture. The Korean tension is a backdrop to a potentially more explosive situation. I know everyone is aware that China is NK's only true ally, but China is also walking on eggshells with their economy. They have a very real concern should that economy fail and force millions out of work. It's potentially destabilizing to the current government.

I'm not saying something is about to happen, but NK is not stupid. They know how to use leverage just like all the other boys to get what they want.

North Korea wheels out surface-to-surface missiles, and puts them on their launch pads.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 South Korean Marine Veterans protest in Seoul, calling on Government to attack Pyongyang.

"It's time for action. Time for retaliation. Let's strike the presidential palace in Pyongyang," shouted close to 1,000 marine veterans in downtown Seoul on Saturday, who burned photographs of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and his anointed successor, his son Kim Jong-un.

South Korean protesters have clashed with police during a rally in Seoul to show their anger at their country's response to its confrontation with the North. Demonstrators called on the South Korean government to take a harder line against North Korea following Tuesday's attack on Yeonpyeong Island. Meanwhile, at another protest against the North held in Seoul at the same time, more than a thousand retired South Korean Marines also called on for a tougher stance against the North.
