News Flash-

Some stock symbols are STILL trading on the NYSE this evening. Instead of closing at 4:00, they are still trading "in recovery mode".

No word yet on exactly what happened- other than to say that the final numbers of the S&P 500 MAY NOT BE IN YET as the market continues to trade.

No data.

By Nina Mehta - Oct 11, 2010 5:09 PM ET Mon Oct 11 21:09:04 GMT 2010
NYSE Euronext said some securities listed on the New York Stock Exchange and NYSE Amex didn’t stop trading at the normal closing time of 4 p.m. Spokesman Ray Pellecchia declined to say what caused the problem.

NYSE said 120 securities were affected. The final company stopped trading at 4:53 p.m. New York time, Pellecchia said in an interview.

The powers that be did a great job of sweeping that one under the rug even though it was probably a few brainiacs like the guy on 60 minutes last night playing ping pong with his supercomputer algorithm. If this isn't filed under the category of "more proof that this market is broken", I don't know what it takes.
