nasa1974's Account Talk

Great finish on Friday. That was the 5th day in a row on the positive side and a nice start for July. So what can we expect today? I have no clue. This market really hasn't followed any type of trend. Asian markets where mixed this morning as are the European markets. I am going to add a little more stickum to my sticky pants today. My account is 1.15% below my high point for the year and for now I plan to ride this train for awhile. Good luck everyone.

My thoughts are also with any Air Force members affected by the Minot flooding. I worked missle security from 1975-1977 at FE Warren AFB. Thanks Nasa for the informative posts this morning..

Dutchy, did you go out with the missle crews or did you work out of the LCF's?

Below is a link to the May meeting minutes. Also I pasted a paragraph from the minutes discussing the budget for the FRTIB. They also talk about the DVD that they want to mail out to new participants. I'm not sure that these people really have our best interests in mind. Just my opinion.

"Currently, Mr. Long anticipates a need for $147.2 million in the fiscal2012 budget. Chairman Saul and the other Board members noted that this is asignificant increase from previous years' budgets. Mr. Petrick described theAgency's budget for previous fiscal years: $108.4 million in 2008; $114.5 million in2009; $130.3 million in 2010; and $131.8 million in 2011. Mr. Petrick also explainedthat in 2008, 2009, and 2010 the Agency's actual expenditures were less than the
fiscal year budget for that year."

I was A1C in Security Police and worked missle security. We went out with the missle crews and lived at the LCF for 3 days on, 4 days off, responding to fence alarms and making security checks of 10 launch sites we were responsible for.

Thank you for posting that link. I found it informative. It also clarified that the Roth option will be rolled out in the 2nd Quarter of 2012.

Lost a little bit on Friday. :( Could have been worse. This morning Asian and European markets not looking good. Could be a bad day today. Tighten that seat belt and make sure the safetybar is down and in the locked position. Sticky pants optional.

Let's hope today has a better finish than yesterday. Got slapped around pretty good. I hope this runaway train doesn't become a train wreck. :worried: Good luck everyone.

There are some pretty good videos of the sun. Enjoy.

DARK FIREWORKS ON THE SUN: NASA has just released new movies of an inky-dark solar explosion that continues to puzzle experts more than a month after it happened. See the footage from Science@NASA.

WEAK IMPACT: A coronal mass ejection hit Earth's magnetic field around 0852 UT on July 11th, but the impact did not provoke strong geomagnetic activity. Nevertheless, high-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras as a fast stream of solar wind blows around our planet.

EASTERN UNREST: An active region emerging over the sun's eastern limb is hurling material high above the stellar surface. NASA's Solar Dynamics
Observatory recorded some of the action during the early hours of July 12th:

Political posturing hampers debt deal talks, says government reform scholar

By Charles S. Clark cclark@govexec.com July 11, 2011

"A cloud of cowardly behavior and political posturing" hangs over the current budget talks between President Obama congressional leaders, according to Paul C. Light, a professor of public service at New York University whose recent proposals for a major reorganization of government come at a time he calls a "once-in-a-generation opportunity to do the hard work."
