Today would have been Chris Cornell's 58th birthday (July 20th, 1964) He passed away May 18th, 2017. RIP Chris. "No one Sings Like You Anymore".

Was having a "Country" spasm yesterday. This is from 2006. Not sure if it's an "Oldie" or not, so I just put it here.
It's definitely in the "What ever happened to" dept. They broke up in 2007, but so much potential. I think Michelle Branch (brunette) signed to Madonna's label, but I never heard much on her solo career.
Their voices are great together. Don't know why they split.......

I swear all these years I thought that was the Dixie Chicks. Now, I know.

Time for another Where'd they go WEDNESDAY . . . . :D
This also falls under "sound alike" bands. TSP-Roulette may like this one.
(This is all just from memory)
When Soundgarden broke up and Chris went and formed Audioslave with members of Rage Against the Machine, or maybe even after Audioslave ended, alot of us were looking for a Soundgarden / Cornell "FIX".
This band "Operator" came out of nowhere and people said "Holy Crap, he sounds just like Chris".....
Not too many vids out there of this band because they were short lived.
Made up of Johnny Strong (MMA fighter, Actor, Musician.....) on vocals, the guitar player from Puddle Of Mudd, and a couple other dudes.....(Bass / Drums)
So you tell me.........does this sound like Chris Cornell ??? At the time I thought so, but not quite sure as much any more. Maybe fairly close??? :dunno:
Had to really dig to find these....

Nahhh dude..... It's not Chris, but most would agree with you that it sounds just like him.
What I wrote below: "Made up of Johnny Strong (MMA fighter, Actor, Musician.....) on vocals, the guitar player from Puddle Of Mudd, and a couple other dudes.....(Bass / Drums)"
Johnny's too busy making movies right now to do music I think.

Not sure if it's Chris but it sure does sound like him.

Well, it's all relative; I'd agree that Epic's question "Does it sound like Chris Cornell"??? yes, it does have that Chris Cornell sound and vocal range in particular the second video "Operator" pretty darn close. But there's another singer Ian Thornley from the band "Big Wreck" and I quote from an article written about Ian T. "Singer for Big Wreck as well as his solo band Thornley. One of the most distinctive and impressive vocalists in 90s as well as modern Canadian rock, Thornley's voice definitely soars above many of the others on the radio today. A powerful gritty belter able to focus his power in both the fourth and fifth octaves, he is often compared to Chris Cornell due to the strong, well controlled tone he maintains throughout his higher range, usually tending to use the best climactic opportunity to show off his abilities, rarely ever using his high range in a non-tasteful way, usually keeping his main focused area in the A4-C♯5 range". Thornley's guitar chops are amazing IMHO. A few years ago Thornley had me fooled, I thought I was listening to C. Cornell.

It's FRIDAY ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I hated the whole Rock-Rap genre (Thanks Anthrax :yuck:), but Fred seems to at least be able to produce a decent video using some comedy, added graphics, camera angles, fish-eye lens and rooftop shots, and quick edits.
The Drums and Bass line are poundin in this one, and the voice over with Wes Borland in the intro is funny.
So, here's some old school to kick off the weekend . . . . . Crank up your sub-woofer and Full Screen ahead !!

OMG ..... Buckethead !!! I remember when he came on to the scene wearing that crazy Kentucky Fried Chicken thing on his head and the mask. That dude could shred. So much mystery around who this guy really was. LOL ..:headbang::headbang::headbang:

First comment on that video says it. :headbang:

I've seen Page, Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani, Van Halen, Gilmore, and a bunch of others. How the hell did I miss Buckethead!! Only discovered him a month ago! I have a lot of catching up to do! Haven't been this excited over music in a long time! Thank you Buckethead!!

Buckethead has been around since the early 90's, Buckethead and Steve Vai were Joe Satrianis students. These guys are guitar virtuosos. Buckethead is eccentric, weird if you will but very prolific musician releasing hundreds of albums. Here's a quote about his accomplishments.

"Since his 1992 debut, Buckethead has released over 30 studio albums and, beginning with the cessation of his band activities, close to 300 albums as a part of his Buckethead Pike series (in 2014, he released a Pike album every six days for the entire year. Perhaps no collaboration has been more visible than his four-year stint with Guns N’ Roses, which included his invaluable contributions to the much-delayed Chinese Democracy album".........Axel Rose wanted the KFC bucket off, Buckethead refused and quit the band. Here's an eccentric video I like because at 1:02 it features some great drum work. I've been to 3 of his concerts, amazing guitarist.

Nuno Bettencourt another master of the instrument. N. Bettencourt was a member of the band "Extreme" who had that acoustic hit song "More Than Words".

Very nice. Love Extreme. The 3 sides record is amazing but was totally overlooked unlike their previous releases that got lots of attention.
Was gonna post up ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJvG1i79CPc ) Flight of the wounded Bumblebee and how he uses that digital delay to get that effect, but I thought of a different shredder.
I didn't know about Jeff at all, but a buddy who was into the band Nevermore (not really my thing) clued me in.
Great player and fun to watch. I just stare at the finger work on that fret board.

A teachable moment . . . . LOL
Having a makeshift studio in your basement is fun. Being creative is fun.
Laying down a perfect vocal track in your studio in the basement can sometimes be a bitch.
Some days, no matter how many takes and how hard you try, it just doesn't happen, and the frustration comes out.

I've been watching this dude from Baltimore since he was 15 or 16 years old and making vids. He was into DJENT. He's a good player and he doesn't take himself too seriously. He has fun with it.
He also (in my opinion) has a great voice!!! He sings with emotion. So just for fun. . . . . .
I didn't see any problem with the second one, but obviously he was not happy.

Perfection:

Not so much:

Tim Henson. Plays in his band called Polyphia. He's on a whole other level. There's so much going on in his playing. So much talent.
Every so often there's a generational shift in music where a whole new breed of players comes to the surface.
I think he may be at the forefront of that shift, and I think it's well overdue.
