MrJohnRoss' Account Talk

Nice graphs and I hope you are right ( of course ). Considering how our president this might be choppy but it will be interesting to see how we hold up if oil slides back down this month. I don't expect the EU to and Greece to be too bad and another nice peace initiative with Russia would help. Certainly better than them nuking Ukraine.

I have been equal weight C,S & I to compare and hoping the I would break out and have further to run. It is a learning experience which has worked out OK but the I has not kept up with the C &S funds over the short time I have held it. I'm tempted to switch back to C & S before it gets more choppy. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I think my move to 30,30,40 (CSI) wasn't a bad move. The "I" fund has done fairly well. It's the fair value that's kicking me around and making me think I should go back to 100% "S" but I will have less shares than before my move and will play catch up. gggrrrrrr!!!

Made an IFT from the I Fund to the S Fund as of close of business today. Relative strength has rotated away from I, and back over to S.

I < C < S

Good luck!

Good thing you didn't exit on Tuesday, I would speculate you have a significant fair value adjustment coming to you. :)

I have noticed, after an interfund transfer, discrepancies in the fund calculations. At the end of the day the value of the funds are established. If the value of the transfers are established, at the same time, my calculations indicate some major discrepancies. When is the transfer actually completed?

EOD.

Yes, it's better that I exited today, so I could get the shaft a little deeper, or so it seems. The strong dollar sapped away any remaining strength.

That is about the about the funniest thing I've heard this week, sent wine shooting out my nose. I did not intend any twist-the knife sarcasm, I thought the FV would pay out today, and I'm not sure there isn't more yet owed. I understand the logic behind the I-Fund system, but on days like this, I wonder if the system applied the logic to itself. It's like Mr. Long holds his finger on the "pay-me-bitch" button and looks for ways to make us regret moving our money around...

Baahaha! Glad I amuse some of you from time to time. Very little time to post much. We're on a big production campaign, so I may be a little sparse for a while.

The S&P is still trying to break out to the upside, but not much movement today. Glad we're seeing movement in the positive direction, rather than a breakdown out of the bottom of the box.

If transfers are completed at the End of Day, my calculations indicate a loss of over $5K, during transfers within the past year. That includes one transfer, by itself, with a transfer loss of over $4.6K. The calculation is based on the value and quantity of the funds at the end of the day and the quantity of the distribution if the transfer was immediate using the values at the end of the day. Based on these calculations my spreadsheet indicates major discrepancies during transfers.

CDavid, you aren't losing your mind. You will simply have to spend actual time searching in the I-Fund threads to understand how the +/- favorable value's are calculated. Simply put, the I-Fund is not based off of end-of-day prices, it's loosely based off EFA & the U.S. Dollar's noon cuttoff, with a built in trigger that occasionally adjust +/- favorable value calculations for the end-of-day prices, sometime to your advantage, other time to your detriment. Short-term traders will think they are owed something, long-term, traders will balance out the sheets with no issues.

It seems that when the I fund is having a good day they do the fv thingy and decrease the I fund value and when the I fund has a bad day they just let you hold that loss. Looks like a win win for them and we loose on good and bad days. That's just my outlook.

As a holder of TQQQ, I'm liking what I see today. Nasdaq is very near busting out to a new high once we clear 4347. RSI is only at 62, so we're not over-heated. Yet.

We got room to run!
