Monday Holiday - Exec order signed

The first time in my 15 years of fed employment I take AL during the year end holidays. So now I waste a day? LOL! If you get it off, enjoy.

As long as you were not in a use-or-lose situation, your leave should not be used for your time off. Our supervisors are having to revert leave requests to holidays for people in your situation. If you are not in a use-or-lose situation, you are only out of luck when they call the time off "admin. leave" instead of a federal holiday.

You are both correct according to a work e-mail I just received. Now it depends on my masters allowing me to swap an incentive day for annual leave. Life is good either way.

Happy Holidays to all of you.

With all the brouhaha around the Fiscal Cliff, sanity prevails!!

Thanks Pres Obama for standing up for the Federal Worker when it may not be politically correct to do so!!

Yep, lose 8 hours annual leave I could have donated to someone....Who really needed it....God this sucks!

I assume if you lost 8 hours of leave to the Christmas Eve holiday, that means you already have the rest of the days this year off and you are right at or above the amount of leave you are allowed to carry over to the next year?

Yes that is correct, I rarely use all my leave each year - I donated 24 hours this year....12 to a heart transplant patient and 12 to a bone marrow transplant....They could have used a few more. Now its wasted....

Hey, Frixxxx, why can't you donate 8 more? The Leave Year goes to Jan 12, 2013......for most of us anyway.
PS: I like this avatar WAY better!!

There's a cutoff for leave donation. I've donated some in the past too. I think you need to donate it by the end of November (or close to it).

It's actually pay period specific - I've been told it has to be donated by the 22nd PP close for accounting purposes.

I had a friend that fell on his head and was permanently paralyzed on his left side. All they would allow me to donate was 1/2 of the leave that I would accrue in a year which was 104 hours.

OPM regulations state you can only use 104 sick hours a year to take care of family (without invoking your FMLA rights), maybe they interpreted that to include donating your annual leave.

Could be, I really don't know but we got my friend 2 1/2 months of pay to help him out.
